It is failsafe as long as you follow the directions; put your finger in all the way and down flat, not bent or on its side. The button and manual key lock also work as stated. After reading the reviews I never bothered setting up the fingerprint reader, That seems to be a poor feature in the reviews. I wanted a programmable key pad with a swing open lid. This safe does that reliably. The key pad works fine with a 4 number code. The lid snaps open fully as quick as you can type in the code. So to be a responsible handgun owner these portable safes are placed around the house so I have quick access to my firearm if in the event my alarm system trips in the middle of he night. I think this is a good value for the money. It's sure cheaper than getting in trouble by the police if your pistol grows legs and walks.No cops no worries no drama. Buy this safe.

I have bought at least 20 of these safes for various people. They are sturdy, nice to put on your nightstand or in a drawer, and piece of mind for security. I have the single and double drawer safe. Love them both. I will continue to purchase these, as needed. The price is comparable and I have had no problems with any of them.

So I’m happy with the safe. It does and is exactly what I wanted. It’s sturdy and thoughtfully designed. It has room for 2 full frame pistols (although with 2 guns there’s no room for mags or anything else) or one pistol, spare mags and a light. The best feature and the reason I got it is it’s fast. Very fast. My current handgun safe is slow and finicky. On the current safe there is a full second (slightly more actually) between keying the code and the door opening. It also has about a 20% failure rate which given what it is, is unacceptable. By contrast the RPNB safe is super fast. Near instant. It’s under half a second between the last key being pressed and the door popping open. Ive also tested it with the key pad and the RFID key and fob about 100 times now with zero failures. What I can’t figure out is why everyone (including Amazon) seems to think this has a biometric lock. It does NOT. The little thing that looks like a finger reader is the RFID sensor (maybe in general y’all should read more) If you must have a finger print lock. This isn’t your safe. Also Amazon asked me to review how well the finger print lock works. Well it doesn’t. Because it’s imaginary. Get it together.

original comment 3/25I received mine yesterday and setup keypass. But after registering one biometric fingerprint, it would not allow to register more. It made 5 blue flashes and 5 beeps.I tried contacting the vendor, no response yet. If this is not resolved within the next two days, I will return the product and the 2 star rating stays.Updated 3/26 - No word from vendor yet but I was able to register at least 3 more fingerprints even with the 5 flash and 5 beeps. The product itself is very sturdy, quick open with code or fingerprint. Very Nice.

Worked straight out of the box after installing 4 AA batteries. Very easy to set up. I used my wife's 2 different fingers, my sons 2 different fingers and my 2 different fingers. It can take up to 20 different finger prints. I tried using the wrong fingers and it wouldn't open which what I was looking for. A different brand on Amazon had a review when they tried to use the wrong finger the safe opened up which is bad. The code input worked flawlessly. I tried using the wrong code an it wouldn't open up. It has tightly fitting padding inside kinda like egg carton foam just miniature version. I did leave the desiccant pack in with the gun for moisture issues if the just happen to come up. Pops open quickly and smoothly. I do wish there was a small light inside but there isn't one. Definitely not bad for 100 bucks.
