Solid converter, this is my third one, they last about 5 years.
The product works perfectly. They last about 5 years, then the emitter light burns out. I have used this product in an installation connecting two server rooms about 200 feet apart continuously for 15 years, you just need to realize they eventually burn out. Until that happens, you get rock solid gigabit ethernet over fiber, immune to surges including lightning, on your data link. They are so cheap and work so well I can't complain, just keep a replacement on hand.

Used for isolation
I bought this to electrically isolate my internet connection. My router and printer recently got destroyed in a lightning storm. We have a UPS for electric, but It appears that lightning struck the cable line and fried the Ethernet ports on the devices (the cable modem was somehow unharmed). I was considering surge protectors for cable lines, but saw mixed reviews. There is no way a power surge from the cable line can go over fiber. Worst case is the modem and cheap converter might get blown out. So far it's working great. I have a 150mps internet connection and I'm getting about 170 down, so it's definitely operating over 100mpbs.

You Want This One! Excellent Converter...
Outstanding -- So Simple! Plug -n- Play. Used in a security system for camera's on a long run from router. No lose of signal, made tough, great price!

Good replacement
We had the older version here at work that had the toggle switch on it and I was concerned that I would not be able to get the communication right between the older (ver 2.1 firmware) and this newer (ver 4.0 firmware) but it synced right up and worked like a charm. I question why we lost the older one already as it was only installed for a little over a year. Simply put, I was blinking on the FX all the time. It simply would not connect anymore. Replaced with this new one and up and running. -1 star for the length of time the original lasted, even though it was an older firmware model. Same item essentially. That being said, good price. We use these to run fiber in between buildings for two separate networks, the business side and my machine network.

Solid value good product
Bought 2 of these to upgrade a fiber link - however a week after they arrived a power supply running a different fiber transceiver on a different link died and I ended up using these to replace that set. They were a drop in replacement for the failed set so it was very timely that I got them. Also each transceiver appears to act as a switch since one of the transceivers is plugged into a 100baseT port while the other one is plugged into a gigabit switch port. I assume the fiber line that came up between the transceivers is running at gigabit. One thing I did not like is they used 9v power adapters instead of the more standard 12v power adapters. I really wish manufacturers would just standardize on the 12v 2A power adapter and not try shaving every last ounce they can off the power supplies. The power adapter wall warts are prone to being spiked and have a much higher failure rate than the devices they power so you have to assume that at some point you are going to have a wall wart failure. I also like that these have a power light in addition to the usual activity lights. Some of these transceivers only light up the activity lights when the fiber connection is made which means if you have a fiber cut the lights all go off and you can't tell if the transceiver is not getting power or not getting link. With these you can tell that.

Worked perfectly for almost a year and then the pair of coverters both died on the same day
The product worked great for about a year. Then, for no apparent reason whatsoever, both units died on the same day, leaving me with no ethernet in my media room. Amazingly disappointing. I know the fiber optic line is still good, because I tested it. Both units were plugged into expensive power conditioners, so I know that is also not the issue. They aren't expensive, but if they only last a year...

And work great. If you need to send Ethernet beyond 500 ...
These things are beasts. They just flat out work. And work great. If you need to send Ethernet beyond 500 feet, and have access to fiber, (which can be bought as direct burial), they kick butt!!!! Simple, no setup, plug, power, data flows. That easy.

Great Product. Easy install. Excellent surge protector.
Zero configuration. Truly plug and play. Perfect solution to go from copper (Ethernet) to fiber. I used two of these to provide surge protection in a long Ethernet run after hearing stories of induced high voltages getting into the Ethernet and and wiping out the connected devices. For about $100 (cost of two of these units plus a fiber patch cable) this interrupts the copper connection and prevents a voltage spike traveling over the Ethernet cable. Fiber optic cable only transmits light, not electrical energy. A spike on the Ethernet cable might take out the media converter, but that's a lot cheaper to replace than a half dozen computers connected to a switch fed by a long Ethernet cable.

I bought two of this for my client as a part of new OFC installation. Since day 1 it performs well as it suppose to. I got this on a discounted price compared to the competitors.

Conversor monomodo excelente, buen precio y rendimiento correcto, trabaja perfectamente con otros fabricantes, aunque recomendable con los switches de TP-Link.
