The light table works well for reviewing 35mm slide images (by the way this is the stuff before digital photography). This model has two corrected lamps and it provides for nice, bright, even illumination across the face of the white plastic top surface.The white plastic top surface on the top edge, on one side was a little rough, and it seems after they cut the plastic to size they neglected to sand this edge free of jagged edges; for this reason I downgrade it to four stars. Sure it doesn't affect the function on the light table but for something costing the better part of a $100, one would expect better quality; if I were running Quality Control at Gagne, I would have rejected the plastic top.It should be noted that because the stainless steel walls need to be bent over to form a flat surface on which to mount the white plastic top, one loses about 1/4" at each edge, so don't mislead yourself like I did thinking I could place slides all the way to the edge of the table and expect these slides to be well illuminated.The wire stand that rotates and tilts the far side of the table up at an angle works well and helps viewing the slides without bending over the table.Included with the light table is an approximately 1/4" wide x 10" long plastic strip that has adhesive on the backside and can be affixed to the lower edge of the white plastic top, so the slides will not slip off when the table is used in the inclined position.This is nice, but since the table is 18" wide and the strip 10" long only the slides in the center portion of the table will be supported. Thus the slides at either side of the plastic strip will slide off if the table is accidentally bumped while viewing the slides. They should have included a plastic strip that was about 17" long, not 10" long, to be completely functional.Overall this is a nice light table for 35mm slide reviewing, and it does work well, however the big price differential between this 11" x 18" model and the next smaller size (I believe 10" x 16") which is around $60 or so, makes me wonder if it is worth the extra $25 dollars just to gain a few inches in the size of the viewing table.

I really love this light box. I took the advice from another reviewer and purchased this one because it gives you enough light that you can see your images clearly even on heavy paper and fabric. It is also built, nice a sturdy and is stable when you apply weight to it when you are tracing. I use it to transfer my drawings to their final stage and it works great! I would advise spending the little extra and purchasing this light box, you won't be sorry.

As with the smaller brother to this unit I feel it works well, provides great lighting for working with film negatives of all types, slides and photos. It doesn't get nearly as hot as the older boxes and the lights usually last for a long time and aren't cheap to replace but that should be expected with such products like this. All in all a good size, not heavy at all and easy to use and really does help when working with anything you need the light to view or work with.

I used this to do calligraphy on my daughter's wedding invitations. I printed the names and addresses out on regular paper and put it up on the light box. I then put the envelopes on top of that paper and used the light to enable me to see the lettering and just traced. I am no calligrapher, but people thought that I am. So many compliments on the invitations.

I should have opened this as soon as it arrived. Unfortunately I waited until I was ready to use it. The surface looks used, arrived rather dirty and has scratches. Will make using it difficult. Would have sent it back if I had found this right away.

I purchased this for tracing patterns, and am so glad I got the larger size. I've had it for a couple of years and it still looks brand new. The light is just right for seeing through standard white paper and the bulb is still going strong.

My husband is an artist and was is need of another light box for his at home art room, I got this one for him, it was a great deal and he loves it, vary bright too!

As an interior designer I have used these products in the past and have always been satisfied. This was a gift for my husband (a comic book artist) and is an excellent tool for his needs.
