Works, but not as useful as I thought
This is a FIXED FOCUS camera. It focuses on exactly 10-12cm in front. At that precise distance, everything is chrystal clear and sharp. Any further away or any closer, things start to look softer in focus. Also, in practice I find, you really have to understand what you are looking for. If you simply poke the camera into an unknown void just for fun, it's not easy to work out what you are looking at, and to orientate yourself. They give you a very long length of camera cable. I doubt that many people would use much of that length. Even using just 1 metre of cable, you can't really control where you are poking the camera. The camera connects to your own device (iPhone, Android, laptop etc) via Wi-Fi. That's not via your home router, but direct. You have to tell your own device not to connect to your own router, but to "Jetion_******" instead and the default password is 12345678. You can change these things, but the instructions advice that the system is more stable if you don't. (What kind of system is that!!!)To get started, you need to download a free App called DEPSTECH from either Google Play or the App Store depending on your device. You also need to plug the endoscope into a USB port and charge it for a couple of hours. The APP works fine for simply viewing the action in real time on your device. I've not managed to record a video yet, I have taken still photographs. The photos end up on your iPhone or other device. The software is adequate, but a bit flaky. Finally, the advert says that the camera is waterproof to IP67 standard. When you actually get the camera, the instructions clarify that this means no deeper than 1 Metre, and then only for several minutes.

Great for Automotive Use
I purchased this camera to see deep inside those impossible to reach places under the bonnet of the car. The camera works very well (that is if you successfully install the software) and is a nice portable system to take outside with you.Pros+Couples nicely with a tablet, which I think is better than it having it's own, cheap, low resolution display+Long shaft that seems to have a good balance of flexiblity and rigidity. It can be manipulated into the desired shape but holds this position firmly+The camera itself has a very low profile but has a strong LED integrated inside and even the ability to affix a hook+The controller is nice and easy to use allowing you to press a button to snap a picture or start a video and the intensity of the LED can also be adjusted+All the pictures/videos are saved to your tablet+Seems well built and very much worth the priceCons-Requires installation of software, which some have had trouble with. I couldn't get it installed on my motorola phone-I can't see myself using the zoom function that much. if I want a closer look I'd rather push the camera in closer.-I think it would have been nice to have the option to adjust the focus manually using the controller to get the perfect picture at the right distance from the object

EASE OF USE AND QUALITY OF PICTURE
Bought this for work, being able to look into voids, behind kitchen units and under floors without ripping things apart is a huge benefit. The app for the device works well and without issue on an iPhone or iPad, it is easy to set up and the picture quality is very good. The fact that I can show customers the problems and then discuss remedies without major building work saves me time and the customer money. It also looks professional. Plus the customer can see what the issue is which makes a huge difference. As I have said before the picture quality is very good, clear and not distorted, the focal range is perfect for what I need and the illumination is just right. It is so simple to set up and works without issue when out on site so there is no messing about to get it to work. The battery life is reasonable at around 2-3 hours of continuous work, though if you need to extend it a little you can always have a battery pack handy to give it a quick charge.Make sure you get yourself a case of some kind for this, the manufacturers should include one with the product as a matter of course.

Generally pretty good but could be improved.
Mostly the picture quality was good but when using behind the dashboard of my Renault Megane where lighting was poor the built in LED did not necessarily lead to a good picture . Some times good but more than occasonally poor with difficulty making out objects clearly or at all. I would qualify my comments by pointing out I have not used the Depstech more than half a dozen times so there may be some element of me getting used to it. I find the cable a little too stiff On the plus side it is far better than cheaper alternatives overall and the mobile App is easy to use. I would like to see a more powerful LED array for better lighting and the cables fitted with connectors - for some jobs the 5 metre cable is unwieldy. Also a damaged cable/camera is going to necessitate return to the manufacturer whilst under warranty for replacement. A cable detachable at the electronics module makes more sense and wouldn't affect the IP rating. I actually bought this for my work as an electrical contractor but have yet to use it but when I do i think it will be a tougher test than when using on a car..
