Math Bafflers: Logic Puzzles That Use Real-World Math (Grades 3-5): 1 (Math Bafflers, 1)

Would recommend more for grade 6 and up.
It's rather difficult for the recommended age of grade 3. My grade 5 student struggles with it. On the plus side, the charts are easy to use. Children need prior teaching in how to solve logic problems, however, otherwise this will just be a frustrating experience.

I should have seen more examples online before purchasing
Probably too wordy for the Grade I have. Fast delivery though.

My son asks to do these
My 8 year old actually asks to do these, and we find them addictive. I purchased it to give him (and my 6th grader who has one for her grade level too) a break from their normal math curriculum. My son doesn't ask to do these instead of his other math work, but actually asks to do them even if he's already completed his math work!We did the first one together, and the next couple he needed a little help with, but then he had the hang of it and has been able to do them on his own without help. I have him photocopy the page he is going to work on, that way I know he isn't being tempted to look at the answer page and cheat. I really don't think I need to worry about it as much with him as his sister though, because the answer page isn't really that easy to find.I certainly don't regret this purchase. We have a lot of extra workbooks laying around that sounded like a good idea at the time, but this isn't one of them. This one gets used.

Challenging logic puzzles
These puzzles are definitely challenging but the book does a great job of walking through the process and for developing strategies for addressing the work. It was exactly what we were looking for. I wish there were another book for this age range. Highly recommended but most likely your learner will require some assistance and encouragement.I for one am appreciative that there is a resource that encourages the child to reach up rather than meeting them where they already are and simply adding repetition.
