Lightweight & easy to make crunchy taiyaki!
Better than the COOKKING taiyaki maker! Despite the 1K+ reviews, I returned the COOKKING because it was dangerous to cook with because it opened up all the way & didn’t have a handle lock, which was inconvenient. This taiyaki maker is much better because it hinges open and stays locked in place when you’re filling in one side of the taiyaki. It also has a handle lock, which is nice so you don’t have to hold the pan together to make sure the batter from both top & bottom touch each other when the taiyaki is cooking for the 2 mins on each side. It’s lightweight and feels like a quality cooking pan. Nonstick.Pro tip: use “NoRecipe taiyaki recipe” to making perfectly golden Taiyaki with a satisfying crunch! I’ve tried onecookbook’s & other ones but NoRecipe was the easiest & best tasting by far! Brushing on the 1 tbsp of batter on each side’s molding was a game changer! I crisp up my finished taiyaki in the air fryer on the reheat function (280* for 6 min) & they turn out perfectly crunchy on the outside.

Get this pan!
This pan is exactly as advertised and does a great job. To get started, look up bungeoppang on Maangchi's website -- she has a video to show how it's done (not really necessary because it's so simple), and a recipe with easy-to-follow instructions that worked perfectly for us. The only tips I would add are that the largest burner on our gas cooktop works best, because it has more area to spread the heat evenly. Also, as another user commented, to disassemble the pan for easier cleaning, you need to turn it beyond the wide open position (to about 270 degrees), then reassemble it from the same position when you're ready to store it.My wife is Korean and was very happy to find that we could make our own Korean "street food" so easily and successfully at home -- saves the price of a ticket to Korea. ;-)

Not Terribly Fishy...
This is a great, fun little waffle iron thing. I is easy to use... and we have been having a great time figuring out special flavors and fillings - Pistachio Banana Chocolate is a favorite. ONE bad note would be NO ENGLISH instructions AT ALL and the images are not really helpful. Of course in the end we just slop some waffle mix in the fish and apply fire. Its fun for both girls and boys. It will not however roll down stairs, alone or in pairs.

... made the traditional Korean style taiyaki (boong-uh-bbang) filled with sweet azuki bean paste
I bought it and made the traditional Korean style taiyaki (boong-uh-bbang) filled with sweet azuki bean paste. The fish mold is a little small so it's only realistic to fill the body - not the tail. The pan comes apart for easy cleaning and as far as I can tell, is non-stick (I didn't need to spray oil onto the mold). It's a fun and nostalgic snack to make :)

Love it!
Cleans off easily, and we use it allll the time. My kid is obsessed with these (much like myself), and it's very simple to use. This thing is like childhood wish fulfillment for the grown anime junkie.

Make easy and fun snack food. Easy to clean.
I have used it twice and it has worked great (and hopefully continue doing so). Very easy to use and clean. Made very good snack food with traditional red bean paste and untraditional cheese filling.
