I purchased these seeds in mid-May of 2024 and planted directly right away into my garden. The seeds germinated well and quickly took over the area where they were planted. My family loved checking for new melons hidden in the leaves often and we were able to pick out the best ones growing and hide them under a bunch of vines so that hopefully the wildlife around wouldn't find them. Check out the photos of a few of the harvested melons. I would definitely purchase this variety pack again. I had a good experience with the seed quality and germination from Sweet Yards. Highlights: -Plan on allocating plenty of space for the melons to grow. -The baby doll and orange tender sweet varieties were hard to tell when they were at peak ripeness. This resulted in me harvesting them a bit too late and they weren't as sweet at that point. -The moon and stars variety were so pretty to see grow and the fruits were very sweet. Plenty of baby melons. This was also the variety that the deer in my garden loved to nibble and eat before I could get to them. -Jubilee grew well and were a lot bigger than expected. Sweet and crisp. -Sweet crimson did the best out the bunch. Very large and elongated fruits that were very sweet. We loved checking for growth progress on the melons we got out of this variety.

They all sprouted. But my planting skills were not good. After sprouting, more than half of them died.So sad.

These germinated well. Grew plenty of watermelons

Last year we planted a couple of watermelons (Sugar Baby) along with our cherry tomatoes and cucumbers just to if the Minnesota summer would be a good fit to get a full-grown watermelon for our efforts. After two watermelon plants yielded a melon each, we decided this year we'd go all in on melons and see how many we could grow, which is why we picked up this set of 5 different kinds. Types included in this seed set: - Orange Tendersweet Watermelon - Moon and Stars Watermelon - Jubilee Watermelon - Sugar Baby Watermelon - Hales Best Jumbo Cantaloupe Since we're in Minnesota, we usually have our last frost at some point in late April to early May, so we figured we'd get a jumpstart on our sprouting indoors with a couple of grow lamps and a growing tray for each of the five varieties (see the photos). ***So What's Sprouted So Far?*** Cut to two weeks after our initial planting and we have a decent number of sprouts for a few of them (Tendersweet Orange, Sugar Baby, and the Hale's Best Cantaloupe) as well as a somewhat underwhelming showing from the seeds for Moon and Stars and the Jubilee. ***Give your melon plants space to grow*** While the Moon and Stars and the Jubilee crop were a bit underwhelming (though we're going to give them more time under the grow lamp to give them more chances), using the three varieties that sprouted well could fill up a LARGE portion of the space we have allotted because of how much melon plants like to sprawl. In fact, part of the reason we ONLY had two melons grow from the melon plants last year is because we planted them so close to each other and they were competing for water and sunlight. Well, that and squirrels, but we'll be caging them out this year to really give our melon plants the best chance without animal interference. ***Outdoor Transplanting mid-May*** We'll be transplanting the Sugarbaby, Tendersweets, and Cantaloupe outdoors next week once we're confident we won't have one last cold snap, and in the meantime hopefully we'll get a few more Moon and Stars and Jubilee to sprout so we can really gauge with an equal number of each what grows best in a Minnesota summer. ***Overall Value*** For $12 this pack had enough seeds of each to populate one 12-celled sprouting tray each, with a handful of seeds leftover for backup. For most of them we could probably fill another 12-celled tray of each but we'll likely be saving them for next year as we already have enough sprouts to fill the planter space we have. We'll start with the 18-20 sprouts that germinated already and we'll keep the rest under the grow light just to see what else pops up. But so far, so good. Hopefully by mid-July we'll have a nice supply of melon to enjoy at exactly the point in the summer we'll want them the most.
