It works well. It doesn’t burn evenly though, but does the job if you’re close.

There was a period of time a few weeks ago that the gnats and mosquitos seemed to be swarming around us all night, It made it so we would retreat indoors. In a desperate effort to be able to eat outside and enjoy our yard, I purchased several Tiki 1418014 Brand 17 oz. BiteFighter Galvanized Citronella Wax Candle Metal Bucket Silver, among other things. There is less wax in the buckets than I expected, but I do think that burning the Citronella did help.

Mosquitoes hate it and will not breed in its presence. I’ve used this product and products like it in a different manner for decades and I’ve had way more success then by just lighting it every now and then. What I do is take a knife and break this candle up into approximately 1 inch chunks And throw them in amongst the violets and ferns Or any low-lying foliage where they would breed if they could stand the smell. So they don’t breed and I don’t have a mosquito issue to deal with at all! It saves time in the long run.

I have been trying any and everything to get rid of gnats inside my home. I don't know what is drawing them in, but they are quite irritating. I purchased this as a suggestion to use inside. This product does not fit that bill. The scent was fine and it did work however, it leaves a cloud of smoke that lingers and managed to affect several rooms in my home, eventhough it was being used in one room at the rear of my home. I suspecte if used outside it would do the trick.

I'm pretty surprised how well this seems to work! I'm a bug magnet who has bad reactions to most insect bites/stings, and I live in a marshy/wooded area of the Florida Panhandle, so my situation is pretty bad overall. I light this candle and set it by my chair whenever I sit in my backyard and have found a LOT fewer insects around. (I do also wear bug repellant on my skin, but previously when I ONLY wore bug repellant, I still noticed a lot of bugs around.)

This is more in response to the complaints about the bucket being only half filled with the wax. As you can see from the picture, the flame burns HIGH and hot, and is as high as the top of the bucket. This is a SAFETY feature as it could otherwise be a fire hazard. That being said, it's been highly effective as I've been eaten alive this summer when sitting outside. Since I started burning the candle, I haven't seen one mosquito or gnat, so I would say it's a very good product. I just have to remember to order more earlier in the season for next year

Although the mosquito invasion has just started in Texas these candles seem to work as fine as the more expensive ones and the only difference is the sturdiness of the "bucket" but considering they will only last as long as the wax is consumed it is not necessary to be heavier or stronger. Good deal !!

Keeps bugs away.

Tiki is a great brand for outdoor torches. Live those Hawaiian torches.This candle will not perform in windy outdoors. It requires much bigger wicks like those found in Waxworks citronella wind resistant mozzie repellent. . Of course the burn rate will be higher therefore the contents will be more per bucket but rated to last 60 hrs. I’m sure it’s not beyond TiKi to give wind resistant options.

Good product

It is 97% Paraffin Wax and so not surprisingly it smells of Paraffin when in action.It burns strongly and gives off lots of smoke

It does do the trick and keep the bugs away but the handle in the container keeps falling off. I love the smell but the mosquito don’t. For the price that I spent I wouldn’t buy it again.
