It's LEICA!!
Ah, more Leica history. Outdated and needing an update but all the writers of books on Leica seem to have passed and no one is updating the original work.

A personal memoir more than a useful reference
Upside: a beautiful hardbound book of engaging physical dimensions with high-quality photo reproduction containing some engaging photos and useful insights/inspirations. And an appropriate 'nod' to third-party Voigtlander M-mount lenses (that have come a long way towards narrowing the gap to Leica's reference M lenses). Downside: a meandering memoir of personal projects of dubious appeal to the expert Leica crowd while featuring mostly basic tips and just too many uninteresting subjects shot using a garish flash technique and hyper-black-saturated B&W digital images. In fairness, a few of the images are of artistic distinction, just way too few. While the author has a deep experience, credentials and love of Leica photography (and local access to Leica experts in Wetzlar), nothing can quite overcome the book's limitations. Not even the tie-in the Leica brand. Perhaps, a next book will vault into a truly compelling contribution to the unique aspects of rangefinder photography and its endless applications.

Not worth the read.
This book is more a diary than anything close to how to use a Leica M system. I barely learned from it. I was expecting more insights and tricks knowing that the photographer featured has 20 or so more years using a Leica M system. Not worth the buy. I wish I can return this. I felt robbed with this. Sadly.

Loved it
This is a book about photography - it's not a supplement for any Leica camera _ rather, the author explores photographic ideas in the context of Leica! Great job - I bought the Kindle version to read and after reading it, I want the printed version too. Excellent book!

Very basic book on photography
This is a disappointing book. I expected insightful comments about the Leica, not basic information about general photography which is readily available from many sources, including the Leica owner's manual or by simply going to Google. The "small tips" are silly: “Only move the camera left, right, up, or down in the plane you have focused on; otherwise, you run the risk of losing the focus and spoiling your image.”

An interesting book.
I like this book. It is a sort of how to book combined with a selection of photographs taken using the Leica M rangefinder system.
