Turkish Antep Pistachios (5 Pound Bag)

Different than the last order
I am utterly confused. Before this order, I ordered Antep pistachios a few months ago. they were packed by PrepShip Inc, Somerset, NJ.When they arrived, the bag was exactly like the picture you have just sent me. They were smaller than the ones I just got from "We Got Nuts" in a commercial plastic bag. They are a little bigger, but from their look, they are obviously not from California. And they are MUCH BETTER than California. But they are "very good" not "delicious!" like the ones that came in the plain plastic bag. (They are certainly worth the price)cheersgeooh, another thing: each nut tastes almost the same as the nut before it.

Great Product
Great price compared to other places. I have purchased this item from several other companies. They were very fresh, once you try the Turkish pistachio's you will love them they are so buttery and addicting.Took a little longer than other companies to get them I will have to order them earlier from now on. Please keep the price the same (or lower) they are expensive enough. I will purchase them again.Thank you.JanConnecticut

Good...but not the best
This is my third order of Turkish pistachios from three different vendors. As with the two previous orders, the nuts are good, but not the freshness or quality I experienced on my many trips to Turkey. At first I thought I was being too harsh in my assessment, heck Turkey is what 5500 miles away. But, on second thought , why shouldn't I expect a better quality nut? Yes, time is a factor in nut freshness, but how long should/does it take to get these nuts from Turkey? Or maybe they are keeping the best ones for themselves, I would. Anyway, out of 5 pounds we are about half way through them as I write this review. The nuts are very lightly salted, which is perfect for me. The shell color is a perfect tan. Nut color has been the typical light/med green to an undesirable yellow/tan/brown, with the ratio being 50/50. The texture is, as expected, better with the green nut than the yellowish nut, which tends to be much drier, and powdery. One of the things you will find with Turkish pistachios are un-cracked shells. Trying to crack one is not easy, it fact they tend to shatter. So far, this batch has only yielded 4 or five un-cracked shells, pretty good. Would I buy again? YES, though they are not up to my expectations, they are still better than the California variety.

Okay, but wouldn't order again
I have bought Turkish pistachios before but from We Got Nuts but thought I'd try them from a new vendor and though the nuts were okay, I prefer the ones from We Got Nuts and will only order from them in the future. I think the difference must be in the roasting, or perhaps it's the freshness of the stock, but these nuts just had a slightly off flavor to me.

Best nuts for the money
Another reviewer wrote that Bayside Candy is not affiliated with Superior Nuts. Not sure but I am glad they are not if that is the case. Bought angel pistachios from both sellers and Bayside Candy are the best. Better taste, larger and fresher. I returned a bag of nuts to Superior Nuts because many were dried out, vry small and many could not even be opened. Going forward, I will continue to buy my pistachios from Bayside Candy and say adios to Superior Nut. I gave Superior Nut a two star rating and that was being generous!

SNEAKY: A mix of EXCELLENT, fresh, crunchy, well salted, large anteps with stale ones in the same bag
UPDATE: I gave them another chance in the hope that I get better pistachios... Instead, they sent me (from what sounds like a shady outfit InternationalGoodsDepot not Superior Nuts Company) the same flimsy plastic bag that was completely open and ALL the pistachios were in the bottom of the carton box. It was gross.Superior Nut Company sent the 5 lbs in a cheesy transparent plastic bag. Their competitors We Go Nuts send their Anteps in an elegant re-sealable bag. We Go Nuts Anteps are ALWAYS fresh and crunchy, as they should be, but with very low salt, something I never understood.Superior Nut Company appear to willfully want to insult our intelligence by sending us a mix of EXCELLENT, fresh, crunchy, "well salted", large Anteps (that taste heavenly with the salt) with stale ones in the same bag. They're sneaky. They change their prices often, which is a mark of sneakiness.I would order again from them to see if they shape up their act, and then I may change this review if they stop their antics and never send stale ones.

On time and Fresh
Love these Pistachios!! I use to have to wait for my sister in Law to bring these back from Turkey. Now I can order them on demand.. This was my second order from superior nut and each time the package has arrived sealed and on time. Pistachios are fresh and easy to open. I will continue to order from Superior Nut.

nuts about nuts
I have been a favorite of Turkish pistachios since I served overseas. Every since then I can never eat another California pistachio. If you consider that a 12 oz. bag in the local store costs as much as $13.00 I consider the Turkish a better valve. But yours where some of the best pistachios I have ordered from Amazon. They where excellent at a great price. I just ordered 10 more pounds.
