handles my widest skis
Handles my wide backcountry tele skis well. I use a shim to hold narrow XC skis. It seems sturdy, easy to use and works well. Seems like the most versatile choice for the price.

Great vises that are. simple to use
These are the best ski vises that I have ever used. They are very robust and simple to use. The design is very well thought out and allows 3 to 4 different ways to hold your skis depending on the operation you are performing. They clamp solidly to the bench and are easily removed for storage when not in use.

great for wide skis
A bit expensive but worth it. Sturdy, quality and works with 115 width

If you maintain your own skis buy these now!
This vise makes waxing and tuning both my narrow 83mm and wide 110mm skis much easier. Can mount on anything with at least 1in or so of a lip and the mounting is really solid. All 3 parts are light weight so and fit in any medium sized backpack for traveling. They seam build solid, not quite sure what kind of metal there made from. But there more likely to get broken from travel than actually using them. Hands down best skiing tool ive ever bought. WORTH IT!

Have been tuning my own skis my whole life. These wider clamps are perfect for the newer skis!

Awesome ski vise!
Very sturdy. Die cast metal construction. Rubber grips on every surface contact point. The rubber grips work so well, that if the top coat of your skis has a smooth, glossy finish you really don't even need to clamp them when waxing. Throat depth of the clamps that clamp to the table is about 3-3.5 inches, so they will clamp to almost any table.

Maybe I just don't get it
I may very well be missing something obvious but I really do not think much of this product. There are two end pieces which serve to orient the ski either flat for waxing, 30 degrees or 90 degrees for edge work. In the middle is a vice which I assume is meant to hold the ski firmly in whatever orientation you choose. It is a bit hard to explain but I found the vice completely useless. There is absolutely no way for the vice to grip the ski itself. If the ski is flat with the base up you can sort of clamp the binding but that is it. With the ski oriented anything other than flat/base up, you cannot clamp anything at all. Again a bit hard to eplain but the vice has no vertical or horizontal adjustment whatsoever. With the ski on edge, the vice does not even line up with the ski so there is no way at all to clamp anything. When waxing a ski the vice is not necessary. The rubber on the flat end mounts has plenty of friction to keep the ski in place. But when the ski placed on edge, the end mounts have large slots to hold the ski which are much too wide. They allow the ski to wiggle back and forth quite a bit which complicates edge filing. Forget trying to use this vice when mounting bindings. There is simply no way to clamp the ski at all. Again I may just be dense but the design of the vice just seems stupid. It is useless for actually holding the ski firmly in any orientation other than base up.Other vices have vices vertical/horizontal adjustment that allow you to line the clamps up with the ski in whatever orientation is required or have some type of clamping system on the end units to hold the ski when on edge. The seller was quite helpful in trying to sort this out but given the price, I saw no reason to keep this unit and returned it. The replacement vice I chose has all of the functionality this one lacks for close to half the price.

Stable vise
The vise is stable and big enough to handle powder skis. Good value. I wish the height of the supports were adjustable (like the comparable Swix vise). When I am working my 5 yr old's skis, I can't really clamp the skis in the vise. For the money, I think they are a great value.

Good product for the lower price compared to other products
I used the ski vise for tuning and waxing alpine skiis. I found it good value for the money. One little gliche which I was aware about before ordering is when skiis rest on the two ourside supports the actual vise does not engagen the ski. it is slightly lower. I just placed a appropriate sized small wood shim underneath and it works .

Solid build quality
This vise has a large middle jaw which is important if your skis are larger at the waist. My skis are 102 mm at the waist and the middle jaw opens up plenty to grab the ski at the middle section. Very few vise sets (I looked) can open up wide enough to hold on to a ski wider than 90mm let alone 100mm at the waist. The construction of the vise and the two outer supports is solid and simple. I was contemplating some of the other vise sets like the Swix world Cup etc., and some of the sets where the outer supports pivot so you can work on your edges at an angle. I found this setup to be fine with it's included 60 degree and 90 degree notches. The only issue, and someone else mentioned it in another review, is that when the vise and two outer supports are attached to a level surface, the vise (middle unit) jaws are about 1.5 cm (3/4") lower than the ski. As such, the vise won't grab the edge of the ski in the middle when the ski is resting flat on the outer supports. I got around this by inserting a couple of wood shims beneath the vise and above the flat surface I use to attach the vise and outer supports. (It's hard to explain without a picture.) This raises the vise up, and solves the problem. To be fair, it is a minor issue that shouldn't prevent anyone from buying this set. As far as value goes, I finalized my decision between this and three other sets based on price and availability. Amazon.ca had this unit in stock and it was $182CDN . Normally this vise set lists for around $200-$240 USD. Amazon noted in the listing that there were some minor cosmetic blemishes on this one particular set, hence the discounted price. The blemishes were minor paint scratches or wear marks, possibly from handling etc. None of the blemishes affected actual working performance. The other two sets I considered were the Holmenkol and the Wintersteiger wide jaw version, and the best prices I could find was $563 for the Wintersteiger, (I think it would be shipped from France by an Amazon "seller" and get here in about 3 weeks) and about $350 for the Holmenkol which is sold at a local sporting goods store here in Calgary. So for considerably less, this was the best deal for a wide jawed ski vise set. Overall, I'm extremly happy and I'm sure this one set will last me forever. There's nothing really that can break and the actual work of tuning your skis does not exert excessive pressure on any ski support system. As such these should last for as long as I ned to tune my family's skis...
