Good beginner book
It’s a short read and it gets to the point very quickly concerning race and all the complexities surrounding it. It’s very good for educating younger children and adults who want to be educated. I enjoyed the read and finished it very quickly.

A Lesson That Needs To Be Learned
I am a teacher. I know that injustice exists in this world and children are the ones to bring about change. I intend to read this with my class and I know it will have an impact. A positive one that will affect the future. This book is so well written, it infuriated me reading about how these young boys were treated and how this treatment still goes on to this day. It gave me hope that people can see a world without racism and it took me only a couple of hours to read it. I was hooked quickly and I want to spread the message.

“Colour shouldn’t make anybody scared.”
“Colour shouldn’t make anybody scared.”Once I opened this book up I knew that this would be an upsetting read, that I would be angry, frustrated and unsettled. But as Angie Thomas states, this is “a must read”This is a short book which I devoured in two hours. It is a powerful story that also has real-life history written into it.Synopsis...ALIVETwelve-year-old Jerome doesn't get into trouble. He goes to school. He does his homework. He takes care of his little sister. Then Jerome is shot by a police officer who mistakes his toy gun for a real threat.DEADAs a ghost, watching his family trying to cope with his death, Jerome begins to notice other ghost boys. Each boy has a story and they all have something in common...Bit by bit, Jerome begins to understand what really happened - not just to him, but to all of the ghost boys.I rated it 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Powerful message suitable for middle grade and above
Jerome, a twelve-year-old black boy, playing in the street is shot by a white policeman in a patrol car. The court finds that the policeman has no case to answer. In a quick, straightforward story – suitable for middle grade and above, especially with parent/teacher discussion – Jewell Parker Rhodes gives us Jerome as a ghost. He sees the effects of his death on his family and the policeman’s family, and he meets all the other ghost boys, including Emmett Till. They bear witness to the injustices of personal and systematic racism.

Great book
Great book! It was recommended in our school news letter as book of the week so I thought I would give it a read. Fantastic book, easy to read, appropriate for young readers yet still gets the message across. I have recommended to several of my students who are now also enjoying it
