So far I like all of the authors books I have read
So far I like all of the authors books I have read. Rather than get lost in all of the history and writing for the sake of writing, as many in the occult tend to do, these books get right to it. This particular book is much more practical in nature, but enough history is also presented for those new to it. For more info, I recommend reading at least Apophis and Dragonscales which are part of the series. If you have read and liked any of the other books in the series you will really appreciate this very practical guide. If you have not read any, you will still find this guide useful and practical. This is a Western, left hand occult tradition. In my experience this series is the most accessible, especially if you are a solitary practitioner, though there is a community and net presence for those who seek it.

Grimoire of the Sevenfold Serpent
I just did not like this book, while the seven heads and what they represented were good information and even a pretty decent conjuration, the book felt like I was reading a pamphlet from a psychic fair (no shade to psychic fairs) the sigils in the book were infantile at best on page 29 the sigil of the first head, seriously? what in the drunk left hand, blind folded kind of sigil is that? the one on page 30 almost looked like an Esu veve in the Vodun path, page 32 and 33 sigil's you can't be serious. while I'm no expert on drawing, this just seemed like mere scribbles, and on page 22 why does Leviathan have to be a crooked serpent? what's crooked about her? I really like the Draconian left hand path but just could not like this book, it felt hurried and like someone who plays way too many world of Warcraft games I would think a former Magister of the Temple of Set, who's name sounded cool so much so I had to google them, was not impressed could not have written a better book on Draconian path, this to me read like a new age teenager and his Warcraft fantasies on the Draconian path. some of these "grimores" just have such a hurried churned out feel to them, its like paperweight lightweight reading.

Interesting, but with a spell taken from a movie
This book uses a spell from the movie Excalibur . I mention this not to knock the book, but to let people know that this is so and that this system is akin to other systems that have taken material from fiction, like those using the Chthulu mythos. Page 15, in The Conjuration section, has the Charm of Making that Merlin and Morgana use to call the Dragon in the movie. (Search "merlin's charm of making excalibur" for a web page with a tentative translation of the charm from Old Irish.)The phonetic spelling that follows the incantation in the book is identical to how it is pronounced in the movie. Like I said, it's not a bad thing, because John Boorman limns a compelling occult philosophy in the movie with just a few lines of dialogue. I've always admired it and was always disappointed that there wasn't more of it. Michael Kelly has taken up the challenge--good for him!

Scary as the abyss
First taste on books of the left hand path after spending ten years studying Wicca and Pathworking the tree of life I decided it was time for me to advance my knowledge. It seems that I have been practicing this all along but I just didn't realize it.
