Because we cannot plumb all of our eye wash stations. This works well for us. We have several in our warehouse where they are needed due to exposure.

We purchased this eyewash station to fulfill a safety requirement. It works pretty well, but it doesn't actually use the whole 16 gallon volume. The placement of the outflow to the eyewash is such that it empties a little over half of the tank before the eyewash stops flowing. If the total volume is 16 gallons, that's only 8-10 gallons of wash flow (I did dump out the remnants of the water after the flow stopped and it filled a fair amount of the bottom half of my 16 gallon catch reservoir, so I know I'm not too far off the volume stated). Full disclosure, I was only rinsing the unit prior to putting it into service. I didn't fill it completely, but it still took at least 10 minutes to empty the water to a level where the eyewash stopped flowing, so I think it would allow for the full 15 minute wash even as is. It is difficult to completely empty, as it still has 40-50 lb of water in it and there is no drain at the bottom so the unit has to be dumped from the top. I'm mounting it on a cart and I can't imagine having to lift that off a wall every 6 months to dump it out and change the water. However, that appears to be the only major drawback. The water flows well and it is easy to fill once it's empty. It is bulky, but we'll keep our unit, as it should work as intended, even with its flaws. We'll install a small bulkhead in the bottom to make draining it easier.

This is bulky and doesn't work well. Pieces fell off during a routine safety equipment check. Thank goodness it was not during an emergency. 0 out of 10. Would not recommend for the price. We purchased this 16 months ago.

Great product, easy install. Advice for manufacturer for improvement would be to add a sliver of a window on side to see current water level.
