It works the way it is intended. It has a metal strainer on it, but the middle part is painted silver but it is plastic. The part that holds the rubber stopper down is plastic, and the handle used to pick it up is plastic- but painted a silver metal color. I am afraid over time, it might break because it moves easily when pressure is applied to it. The rubber stopper on the bottom does a good job keeping water in the sink, but it is a hollow rubber stopper, which means it will crack and could rip over time. It is hollow on the inside, and it easily bent as well. I could also see food or mold getting stuck under it, because it can't be cleaned out under it where it is open.Overall, it does it a good job, and for the price, I would buy it again and recommend it.

The product arrived quickly and works very well. It was a small purchase ...but of huge assistance since I had been using an old worn out plastic drainer for a long time LOL It could be a little stronger but until I knew it would fit and would work I ordered the lesser expensive model...Next time I will upgrade to a more expensive one and won't be lazy and putoff ordering .Overall very pleased with this purchase

Will made water drain,ease of cleaning, durability

The stopper that came with the sink wore out. The rubber part was falling apart and smelled and water drained out. I took it to a hardware store in search of a replacement - they helped me look at many stoppers but none of them matched. But here it was online, a Standard (imagine that) sink stopper! Fits snugly and perfectly, does nor smell. Problem solved.

but overall the construction and the quality is a bit cheap, it was also cheap so I guess that makes sense.Without much strength, you could completely bend this thing into a little ball. I would not recommend using anything stronger than dish soap and a sponge to clean it because there is no way that the chrome plating won't chip off with anything harsher, even using a steam cleaner on it might be too much. A temporary solution at best, I'm not counting on it to last.

I CANNOT BELEIVE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE GIVING THIS JUNK A HIGH RATING. Apparently NONE OF THEM have ever seen or owned an actual decent sink strainer stopper that works, because this one doesn't.From the package it stops the water. Trying to see how it strains I had to manually pull the rubber stopper down on the stem and then see if it let water through (strained) it didn't , rather it still stoppe the water, which IT SHOULD BECAUSE THE EXTENDED POSITION FOR A TRUE STOPPER STRAINER IS THE EXTENDED POSTION. So this junk is just a STOPPER STOPPER.it's so cheap and lacks instructions of any known standard features of decent plugger stoppers that I could not readily determine how to use it each way, not to mention that the basket is made of like TIN FOIL it is so thin and lightweight.but there is more that is annoying and frustrating: the same manufacturer IS THE ONLY One that makes and markets stopper strainer baskets on Amazon through intermediaries! I'm trying one each the other two because they LOOK LIKE actual stopper strainers whereas this one didn't even look like one in the single picture that it claims to be in the description. At the time I bought it, I did not see these other two.The basket comes with the stopper up against the bottom of the basket on the push stem all the way so you can't push the stopper out. If you pull the stopper out on the stem, then the stem is plastic and so sloppy in the center hole that it cannot be locked in any position. (and note that THIS SAME garbage is sold by different companies on amazon and luckily I can tell because they all use the same product picture).
