Hultafors AV08417100 Outdoor Climbing Axe Eaceln Hunting Axe

I am very happy with my Hultafors small camp axe. It arrived extremely sharp, the axe head to handle fit is perfect. The hickory handle has a very straight grain and is premium. I love the size because it can be easily packed in a duffle bag. If you have never used a high quality axe you will be surprised how effortless you can cut through wood. The protective sheath is very nice too.

I already have an aneby axe by hults bruk, it the same axe of course, so i wanted to add another to my axe collection, this came from Amazon Japan, I was warned it may be a slightly different but I took a chance because the price was much less, turned out to be just the same as my aneby , I have no complaints, I am well pleased, I have the gransfors bruks Scandinavian, small forest, and Hunters axe which are well built and a quality product but I have found the hults bruk (hultafors) to be a better chopping axe and I like the feel better. I have the hults bruk kisa, aneby, akka, almike and the mini hatchet by hults bruk, the akka is my favorite,

Well built. Great grain orientation on 20 inch handle. Razor sharp. Beautiful forged head with deep markings. Leather sheath is excellent quality and protects cutting edge. Wood handle feels great after a light sanding with 220 grit paper. Head is hung nice and tight without gaps. Used it to split some wood, works good. Better at chopping. Excellent for feather sticks. Easy to choke up on handle for bushcraft work. Will hand down to my son.

This ax is razor sharp, easy to hold, and light enough to swing all day. Great for brush clearing.

This "hunter's" axe will go into my will. It's that well made. Mirror polished bit, shaves body hair and slices paper smoothly, "out of the box." Perfectly hung haft, labeled Hultafors, mated to a finely forged head, stamped HB.Seems like a GB SFA that's been to a gym: a bit beefier and slightly longer handle, plus a 30 ounce head. (If grams count for you, stick with the GB SFA.) The mask is significantly better than what GB sells. Worth the price to me, even though it went up $30 bucks since last fall, when I waited until it was out of stock to order it. (PS: Mine is the "Ekelund", one of only 3 this go 'round on Amazon.)

This is an excellent axe. Came shaving sharp, the handle is straight grained and well hung with no gaps. Very well designed and balanced.

This Hultafors hunting axe is the perfect companion for an outdoorsman. It combines a sleek, lightweight profile with perfect balance, and an ergonomic design that would be perfect in almost all conditions. However, my axe has a slight defect. The wood just below the axe head is slightly knotted, this allows for the wood to splinter slightly, and leave those splinters in your hand upon use. When I first received this axe, I was unable to use it due to weather conditions and thought this would be no issue. However, upon properly getting to inspect the axe, and take a few test swings I realized that this defect would drastically alter its performance and handling. Therefore I cannot give this axe a perfect review. I have signed up for the lifetime warranty, however they deemed it out of compliance as the lifetime warranty solely covers the axe head. However, the sales person was kind enough to issue a partial refund for roughly the cost of a new handle. For this reasoning, I am raising my prior review of 3 stars to 4 given the excellent efforts put forth on my behalf.Now I simply must learn how to operate on an axe to repair/replace the handle. I would most certainly recommend this axe, just act quickly if you notice defects.
