Buy one
Works well very basic. I liked this one so much I bought a second one for my sister. If I changed anything I would request a female port to access ball jar lid attachment. As it is I have to use the male port. This replaces a 30+ year old name brand, wore it out cracked plastic. A second fancy Costco do it all self contained $300. What a hunk of junk. Never worked properly Apperantly just like it was designed to do.

**UPDATED AFTER 1.5 YEARS - Exactly what you need to vacuum seal -
***UPDATE after 1.5 yearsMy review below stands, this thing still works great. I was planning a major kitchen remodel when I bought this and thought I would go with a built in vacuum sealer. Then corona virus hit and we paused. After using this sealer and beginning my remodel again, I decided to stick with this and save my money on the built in one. I can buy 25 of these for that price and this will still work better. You just can't go wrong with the simplicity of this thing.--------------So there are lots of these things out there, I am on my third, as I sous vide a lot. First was a fairly basic food saver, which died after many years of use. I looked for a similar unit, but they are now expensive and big. Decided to go with a highly reviewed one on Amazon, what a piece of junk, lasted 4 months and it was slow, with way too many things trying to happen. Total waste, when what you need is something that sucks our the air and seals the bad. I don't to store a roll of plastic, I use premade bags, I don't need a special cutter, I have scissors (for the few times I use a roll). On to the Anova, this thing is simple. Three buttons, vac and seal, seal and pulse the vacuum. It is light, small and easy to maneuver. For bags with liquid, you can lock the lid, hold the sealer up in the air and pulse in one hand, get the air out and then seal it manually. I just works, it isn't trying to do anything other than what it was intended for. I wish I had found this one first, I wouldn't have had to write a bad review about the crappy big monstrosity I had.

Easy To Use
I learned my lesson after buying a cheap 20 dollar sealer. Didn't keep a seal and didn't work after a month. Luckily I was able to return to Amazon for a refund, which I put towards the purchase of a this better sealer. I had never used one before but now that I have a much nicer and better made sealer I doubt that I could live without one. I use it not only for freezing foods but I use the pulse feature on foods that I store in the fridge for longer life. I use to put my carrots in 2 quart mason jars in the fridge to extend their life which worked well. But now I seal them in the bags and put in the crisper drawer and they last twice as long. Also when I remove a carrot I just reseal the bag. I find if I wrap a lot of my food items in saran wrap before I put them in the bags to seal, that the bags are actually reusable as long as the raw item hasn't touched the inside of the bag. I usually wrap my large cabbage tightly in saran wrap and it will stay fresh in a crisper for about 3 weeks. I decided to try using a large sealer bag as an experiment. Normally I would leave the core and Never Wash The lettuce or cabbage before storing, you can do this when your ready to use it. This time I cut the cabbage in half leaving the split core on each just because the bag wouldn't be big enough. I sealed both halves of the cabbage and placed them into the crisper drawer. That was a month ago and the cabbage is still fresh with no browning of the core or leaves. Then I decided to do the same with my lettuce. I removed the wilted outer leaves and removed the core. Sliced the lettuce into 4 wedges and used the pulse to remove air and then seal. I used a large bag on each so when I cut the top and remove some lettuce leaves I can easily reseal the bag. My lettuce now lasts for up to 4 weeks with store bought and almost 8 weeks with my garden raised. I am discovering a whole new world and concept with using a Vacuum sealer. Now I wish I had bought one with the jar sealer att. but I bought a hand held and dry seal all of my dry goods in my 2 quart canning jars. I love this sealer and hope it lasts a long time.

Solid Choice
I’ve had this sealer since 2021. It still works and has been a solid performer. I still use it today. It may not have some of the features as others it is great for starting out with a sealer. It’s small enough to store without being intrusive. It locks well when using. The air flow may not be as strong as some of the others but it will work well for small jobs.

Neat cooking tool.
Makes cooking the right temperature so easy! It takes a little practice, but worth the cost!
