Great Product
It works perfectly! It's light, portable and the transfer speed is satisfactory, even when using one out of two usb ports. It works just like a flash drive, so you can pick and choose what to import from the drive, without having to go through any long process.Only disadvantage is that all files transferred from the drive cannot be changed because they are read-only copies. The files you need to edit have be saved as new copies afterwards. It might be bothersome if you have dozens of Microsoft office, pdf, png, etc. files that need to be edited at some point.

No problems here!
This was my first time purchasing one of these external hard drives to backup my computer files, being an art student who wanted to save all of her digital assignments and software information as well as photos, music, etcetera. No problems here! You only get 298 GB of space versus the 320 GB of space advertised but that was still more than enough room to backup everything I needed which came to around 195 GB of space. I was able to plug this external hard drive in and immediately start transferring files - no installations or complicated instructions. It took about an hour or two to backup everything I wanted, that's understandable I guess. So far so good, will probably just purchase another one of these if I ever run out of room on this first one.

Broke within 24 hours.
This review is written after a few weeks of pure frustration with this item. Originally when I got this item, it seemingly worked just fine; it synched with my Wii U (what I am using it just for) and off I went. After about a day though, I noticed that the USB port on it was incredibly loose, as in the cord itself did not want to stay in unless I propped it up on itself, not to mention the LED would go off or on depending on how it was sitting. This condition would be understandable if the item was old or moved around a lot, but I had not touched it after the initial plug in. What was worse, unless it was propped up, the device would go unrecognized by both the Wii U, and my laptop. I contacted the seller, who agreed to send out another external case thinking it was just the USB slot.A week or so later I received the second case, and carefully moved the Hard Drive into it's new home. I plugged it back into the Wii U and....nothing. The device vibrated and I could hear it running, but the LED light was a no show no matter what angle I held it at; it did however light up AS I was disconnecting the hard drive. Tried this same procedure with my laptop and while it picked up that it was plugged in, the light did not light up, nor did the computer truly recognize the device.Perhaps I simply have a faulty device entirely. I am not sure. The customer service was okay, but as for this item? It simply doesn't work at all.

Know what you need and order the right thing.
This item came with the proper cable to hook it up and worked fantastically. No problems what so ever with it. Plug and play and no problems with it at all.

great deal for the money
it's a decent deal for the money however will not transfer every kind of document. does great for the most part. came fast and has a lovely blue finish as well as a decent faux leather case to keep it protected from dust and the elements. I would recommend this to anyone especially someone on a budget.

Bipra 640GB 2.5 inch External Sata USB Blue
A very sleek, ridiculously small, perfectly formed bit of shiny blue drive that does exactly what I wanted it for.I've already got WD Passport Elite's and Samsung S2's. Toyed with the idea of getting the Toshiba 1 Tb usb drive but didn't. The Tosh is massive in comparison and expensive to boot. The Samsung S2 has overpriced itself. This drive is beautiful. I've a Galaxy S 11 and the drive is shorter by a tad (5mm ish) and just a weeny bit wider (5mm ish) again. You can feel but not really see the difference due to clever design. It's incredibly thin but doesn't feel flimsy at all; and has a nice solid feel to it. It came with a Y USB lead to boost power on those older laptops. I only need to use the one cable on my Samsung NC10. I've backed up a chunk of my music collection. 36GB transferred in less than 2 hours via my backup software. Not the fastest by any means but not the slowest either by far. It did the job and at a cost of less than a £1 a Gig is excellent value for money and knocks spots off it's competitors. I'm buying another; mmmm shiny red this time. They're unbelievably good vaue. Someone's going to cotton on soon and their prices will go up like both the Samsung and Tosh drives did.I'll keep this updated to monitor progress but from initial usage I'm impressed. A quietly efficient understated piece of kit. 640GB of bliss.

BIPRA 640Gb 640 GB 2.5 inch External HDD USB 2.0/BLUE/FAT32
A very sleek, small & silent drive. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Perfect for backing up my PS3 data & works really well on my Windows 8 Laptop. This drive is really nice looking and quiet. It's thin & sturdy. Came equipped with a Y USB lead. I only need to use the one cable on my Samsung NC10. It took 2 hours to back 160Gb of data from my PS3 (upgrading drives, hence the backup). It's probably not the quickest of drives, but it's certainly no slouch either and a lot of people will find that this drive will adequately meet their needs and beat their expectations. 640Gb for £39.95 is something that is not to be sniffed at, in fact it's a bargain.I am really impressed with this drive. At first I thought it was going to perform poorly at this price, but it certainly has knocked me for 6. I may well buy another to hook up to my TV in the bedroom to watch movies on or listen to music. My only real complaint is the Y lead could of been a wee bit longer, but a longer one can be bought easily & cheaply enough. Seriously this is excellent value for money and the performance (as stated) has beat all my expectations. Happy bunny today.

A great price for this size of drive and reformatted to NTFS very easily
I wanted this drive so I could back up my Windows 7/8 system image before an imminent hard disk failure took hold. I realised that only NTFS formatted drives can hold large system images and was a bit worried about reformatting a brand new drive, I needn't have worried. I looked online for instructions for reformatting drives to NTFS and after about 5 minutes it was all done. I was then able to do a complete backup of my Windows 7/8 Laptop and thankfully it worked. After only two days my laptop's hard drive failed and had to be replaced. Once I set up my new system files from the recovery disks I had with my laptop, I plugged in my external drive and away it went, easily restoring my previous files without a hitch and well worth the purchase. If I had known in advance I would have ordered the pre-formatted NTFS version of this drive but it really was very easy to reformat this drive. It's very compact and looks great, fits easily in a pocket should you want to do that and comes with a double ended USB 2.0 to USB 1 cable. The double ended cable is to supply additional power to the drive if necessary but I only needed one connected.

Buy somthing else
Not vey reliable, requires two USB ports as one is data and one is power. Can be temperamental, often not recognised. On my laptop the usb cables need to be attached a certain order to be recognised. The cable attachment to the unit is an old style camara link... its very loose and falls out all the time as it as no grip so any slight move of the cable it falls out.The design is very boxy with sharp corners.Save your money buy somthing else.

Nifty litte bit of kit.
I bought this to replace my dear - almost departed - Freecom drive of a similar size. So far so good! It has a blue light on it which lets you know it's on, and it also flashes when there is activity on the disk. This is a good one up from my old disk, as you could only tell if it was working by putting your hand on it and hoping to feel vibrations. The accompanying USB lead at almost 50cm is long enough to be handy and short enough not to be a pain when you have to pack it up.Overall, for the price I am very pleased.
