My 5-year old wanted a sewing kit, and we tried about four different kits. This was the best for her dexterity and attention span! The one downside is that there is thick yellow yarn for the shoulder strap, and it doesn't fit through the eye of the needle very well. Other than that, it's great.

So much better than I expected! Super high quality materials, adorable face, and easy enough for my just-turned-four year old to do. I help hold it and showed her the first couple of stitches. We've worked on it in several shorter time frames and she loves it. She is making it as a birthday gift for her big sister and is remarkably proud of herself for sewing it herself. Really great for fine motor skills. I will buy more in the future.

I got this for my daughter's 5th birthday, because she asked over and over again to learn how to sew like mommy. This was a great introduction to sewing and the needle is very age appropriate. I'm going to keep it in my collection as a yarn needle. I held the material together for her and she working the needle and thread herself. She is very proud of her first sewing project, and I loved the learning experience it had to offer. We completed the purse in 3 short sessions.

Bought this for my niece and she loved it. The craft needle it comes with has a round tip on it so she can't hurt herself on it. The felt and thread are both tough enough to stand up to her. Best part was, the directions were pretty self-explanatory, so she could figure it out on her own. She loves her little lion purse. Give this a shot!

My 6 year old and I worked on this together. She needed some help with lining up the holes and knotting off the ends but did well with sewing the parts together because the felt had holes in it to show her where to put the needle. I loved the safety needle. She felt confident using it and wasn’t afraid she would poke herself. Great beginners product.

my daughter had a blast making this cute kitty purse. she was able to do most of it herself, she just needed help in making knots. it has easy to follow instructions and came with enough material to make it
