Good quality and works as expected
Does exactly what you'd hope, converting a pair of headphones into a headset with a simple cable swap. The microphone is good quality (comparable to ~£150 Sennheiser gaming headset) and comes with a small foam pop shield and a decently bendy boom. The clip has a resistive volume dial (i.e. doesn't control the system volume directly) which is useful to offset volume if the system volume level is too high. The cable is quite phonic (i.e. friction results in noise transmitting up the cable) but has a clip to attach to clothing which eliminates this.

More than you expect when comparing the competition.
I was looking for an alternative to the V Moda boom mic which would be compatible with the proprietary connection of the Audio Technica ATHM40X headphones to use as a gaming headset.First impreasions: -The packaging is very clean, no noticeable logos or company information other than a compatibility sticker, in line with what you might expect.Upon opening the box I was pleasently surprised to see the mic securely fixed into a plastic tray and all jack connections protected by individual plastic sleeves. The cables are braided and jack housings are of a thick semi hard rubber construction and are reassuringly solid. Connections are gold plated and the base of each jack has a slightly thicker flange leading to the jack housing, a nice touch. The inline mute/volume works as expected and if I had 1 complaint for my £19.99 it would be that the housing for the mute/volume feels a bit flimsy and certainly not consistent with the higher than expected quality of the rest of the product. The boom of the mic is roughly 3 inches long and is perhaps not as pliable as I expected, although it does stay in place. The capsule housing looks good, with a mat grey finish and (what looks and feels to be) a metal grill cap.Sound quality is obviously subjective, but my initial impressions are very positive. With the mic placed about an inch from my mouth I heard no noticeable clipping or distortion and the mic has a very nice warm tone, not nasal or thin at all and captures bass, mid and treble frequencies equally with pop shield on and off.My only real very minor complaint as far as the mic goes is external sound pick up, but assume this is down to the mic being uni directional and wasn't as bad as it could be.Once I've used it for a few weeks I'll come back and update on durability and more thoughts on the mic itself.

Does it says on the tin
I love my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. It is studio headphone thus lacks mics. There are bluetooth versions but wired is always better than wireless. HansnBy Boom Microphone fills the void and works like a charm. Felt the boom to be quite flimsy but it still holds is place. The quality of the mic is average and some bluetooth mics perform better but overall convenience and usability is top notch.

Long term Review = excellent mic
This is a great mic, simple but works excellently. Solidly made and reliable.NB - I use this with audio technica M50s and I needed to also buy a USB plug in adapter for the cable - I wasn't able to use the mic by plugging in the regular audio jack.

Background Noise
My setup consists of a iFi Zen USB DAC, connecting to my Audio Technica M50X, which normally provides a crystal clear sound, without background noise but sadly when using this microphone I have a permanent high pitch noise, which is caused by the microphone input, disconnecting this microphone removes the noise. The build quality of the cable is fine, but the control box rattles.

Great Mic - Subpar Sound & Build
I use this wire for gaming with my Sony MDR-1A headphones and only for gaming. The sound quality takes a slight hit in exchange for your mic quality being boosted significantly. I have a separate Aux cable I use instead of this when I listen to music or watch shows/movies/videos. It’s nothing really to have a big issue with if this is your only cable. The pop shield doesn’t stay on so I’ve lost it a while ago but the mic still works fine without it. Mic doesn’t stick out as much as I’d like so it hovers around the side of my cheek. This isn’t much of an issue seeing as everyone can hear me perfectly fine, but I imagine it doesn’t look as good.I’ve has this for around half a year and the wire still has a very slight strange smell to it that is most likely just the material they used to braid the cable. Speaking of the braided cable, it is much thinner than I thought it would be. Does not feel like it’s sturdy at all.Value for money is okay but I do wish it was cheaper. This is the only wire I could find like this so I didn’t exactly have a choice.Overall this is only recommended if this is your only option. Mic is great. Sound and Build Quality is subpar.

Simple fix for Xbox and Sony XM4
Brilliant - me and my friends spend months trying to work out why online FIFA on Xbox and my Sony XM4 headphones wouldn't work and this fixed it straight away

It Works!
i have a pair of Sony MD-R 10S headphones, which i love the quality of. I wanted a descent headset with mic and great quality of sound, but couldn't justify buying another pair of headphones, when i already have some. This product is what i was looking for. I was a bit skeptical of the price and thought the overall quality would be low. I was proven wrong.Great built quality and very good sound quality from the mic. It fits firm in the headset with no unwanted movement. If there is anything negative i must point out, is may the control unit for mute and volume feels light and cheap, but it is something i will never use. The caseing around cables could have been rubber to help eliminate any friction noise, but have not noticed any. I've not marked it down becasue they havn't caused me any issues. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.Note: make sure you select the right jack size for your headset before buying. in my case for Sony Headphones 3.5mm (standard jack size you'd find on a phone/computer/laptop)
