A Kayaker's Guide to the Hudson River Valley: The Quieter Waters--Rivers, Creeks, Lakes and Ponds

Seems to be the best out there.
Use this book as a guide when paddling with my son, usually in a canoe. So far things have been as accurate as you can expect a print guide to be, and it continues to be my go-to for answering the question of where we should go this weekend. I'm not a huge kayak nerd but this has been a very useful guide to me. I actually got it out of the library several times and finally realized I kept going back and getting it over and over, so just bought it. Worthwhile.

So far so good.
I bought this book because I'm new to the area and was having trouble finding places to launch my kayak other than the Hudson. I found a really great spot in Highland by using this book and have several other locations lined up to try out. I like that the author warns you if there are any hazards to be aware of in the location you will be kayaking. That is a great feature for anyone but especially if you kayak alone.

Great Guide
Great Guidebook, pretty much covers all the calm waters in the area some I knew of and a few I did not. Covers portage and hazards on water also gives details of what other things to expect on the route, and directions to where to launch and exit. Overall a handy book to have around if you're looking for new ideas for paddling the hudson valley area.

This book gave very detailed descriptions of various places to kayak in the Hudson Valley. From easy, slow paced kayaking on local lakes to more strenuous kayaking on white water, the author provides all the information you need to have a safe enjoyable time kayaking in the very beautiful Hudson Valley.

Discovering happy water.
Most books, fiction or non, satisfy or not. This one certainly satisfies. Time and time again by revealing close water holes close to my second home in the Catskills. Being in my kayak on water makes me happy.

Its a good guide but I wish she would have gone into more detail in some cases. For example, I would be good to know what sections of the wallkill river are ok for beginners and where the dams are.
