These clips are great and worked great. Only issue I had is clearance above the curved roof of my Flagstaff e pro. you definitely need to add a small spacer between the Z clip and the solar panel. The included 10mm bolts are long enough to fit a small spacer.

They work just fine
I install these brackets (Renogy Solar Panel Mounting Z Bracket 4 Units) directly to the roof and so far I have not seen any issues. Note that regardless of how you try to install solar panels on your shingle type roof there are going to be some type of penetration through shingle and roof. You can install these brackets directly onto the roof; however, there are some precautions you must take to prevent leakage. You can't use the included bolts, as they are sheet metal screws. I used ¼" x 1½" steel bolts with nuts and washers. Drill the holes just big enough where you must use a wrench to drive the bolts through the roof...this way they'll be tight, which will lessen the chances of water leakage. Drive the bolts through the roof just far enough to allow a small gap between the bracket and the shingle surface. Using a caulking gun, apply roof sealant under the bracket...making sure the sealant does indeed completely covers area under the bracket. Next, drive the bolts all the way down until brackets are tight against shingles. The next step is to get inside the attic and install the washers and nuts. This task is easier with two people, one on the roof to hold or turn the bolts and one inside the attic to install and tighten the nuts, but one person can do it with a little creativity. Note that tightening the bolts/nuts will squeeze some sealant from under the bracket. Just go back on the roof and spread the sealant evenly around the brackets and around the bolt heads...the main goal is to make sure the area around bracket is completely seal. Apply as much sealant as needed to ensure everything is completely seal.I had mine installed about a week ago here in South Florida. It's been raining almost in a daily basis and so far I have not seen a leak. The one thing I can say for sure is whether or not the brackets leave enough space between the solar panel and roof for cooling purposes. Perhaps someone else here can clarify that point.

Easy install
An easy install, the brackets look great. I wish the brackets had two slots for installing to the solar panel itself. I installed on the top of my van and it's sturdy, but doubling up from the bracket to the solar panel would make me feel more comfortable. I don't think it'll go anywhere but i'm backing it up with an extra self drilled bolt at each bracket for reassurance.

Solar panel mounting made easy!
I was really surprised how easy this makes mounting the panels, both roof and a fence.
