I really loved the mechanics behind the game
A lot of reviews I read said the replayability was very high which confused me, because typically murder mysteries aren't like that.Well it thoroughly surprised me and I loved the way they implemented some things to still make it a mystery. Without any spoilers: you basically collect two pieces of evidence out of 6 and what ever combination of the two you have is the overarching scenario whether it be supernatural, extraterrestrial etc.It was initially a little confusing because there are a lot of extra cards you don't use, but it makes sense why they are there once you start playing a dig into the game. The instructions can be a little difficult to understand at times but if you just start playing as you read the instructions it starts to make sense.Overall a great buy, lots of replay, you could easily implement this into an expansion or campaign but it works great by itself. Definitely play it with others, this one is tricky to play solo. It makes it more interesting with certain mechanics with more than 1 player.

Two scenarios—one almost impossible to win.
Guardians of the Abyss is a good idea, but some of it gets lost beneath the sand. There are cool locations and encounter cards(locusts!) and it’s a lot of fun(though challenging) during the first half. Things start to go down hill as the danger ramps up during the second scenario. My advice to you is play the first half and just expect to lose the second one. No, seriously—you have no chance of beating the second scenario. If you do try to make a go of it, make sure you are playing with at least 3-4 expert level character decks, otherwise it’s going to steamroll you. This is because every “common” monster it spawns in the second half of the adventure is essentially an “elite” in any normal AH campaign. So try having multiple boss battles going on at once.As I said, you’re buying this for the first scenario not the ridiculously difficult second. I got my money’s worth but it was a bit of a letdown. They just need some errata to fix the second half.

Damaged Outside
The box is damaged. Too be honest there is no board game player could accept that their new game received in a poor condition.
