Got my aerogarden today. box was unsealed, box for seed pot kit also unseal and seed pods not in a sealed bag. should i return?

If the seed pod was not in a sealed bag, there may not be any viable seeds in the pods. I would definitely recommend returning

Do you have to use the pods? if so, are they reusable? how do i get empty ones if needed? also, where do i purchase plant food?

I do use these pods. I’m not sure how to get empty ones ... if you find out let me know. I just started using it so I assume AeroGarden sells food separately..

There are two holes in the back, can I add a trellis ?

The holes in the back (covered by the little rubber stoppers) are there to add extra aeration by hose. Most users don't feel that is necessary with the Harvest AeroGarden so they keep them covered. While we do not have a trellis made for Harvest models, we find that SoftTies work well when your plants need extra support.
