This is a great small(ish) griddle
I bought this to upgrade from a Genesis E330 + Little Griddle setup (3-burner gas grill with a 3rd-party griddle accessory) and it has been amazing. This thing get stupid hot, holds temperature well, the cleanup is easy, and it is not terribly heavy. I use it as my only griddle, so I am disappointed that there is no cover for the grill surface. Instead, I get it out, use it, and put it away when I am done. It is roughly 40lbs so it is not difficult to carry, but it is just bulky enough that it is difficult to carry through an interior doorway. Since this is marketed as a portable flat-top grill, it make sense that Camp Chef intends for people to store it in the bags they sell (one for the base, and another for the cooktop), but I am a rebel I suppose. I didn't have the money or the space for the 6-burner FTG900.The only time I have wished I had a bigger griddle is when I am trying to make smash burgers for a crowd or a large batch of fried rice. For 99% of my cooks, this thing is fantastic. With my initial setup, I found the cons to be big enough to make me not want to cook out as much. I am using this thing a solid once per week (same with my charcoal grill). It is a joy to use, works well, and I will definitely look to Camp Chef when I want something bigger.

Good cook top
And yes, it gets hot enough to perk coffee.

Wind doesn't seem to bother it
I purchased the Versatop after comparing Camp Chef with Blackstone. My decision was based on reviews in part because the Camp Chef isn't readily available at big box stores to go put your hands on like the Blackstone griddles are. The Camp Chef offers better construction in terms of the griddle itself versus Blackstone. Camp Chef also provides wind protection on all four sides of the griddle keeping wind from blowing out the flame. I write this just after cooking lunch in the Kansas wind, I didn't have to relight the griddle like my friends with Blackstone complain about. I also like the printing for flame control on the knobs instead of being printed on the case of the grill. This proved to rub off after several cleanings with my Blackstone friends. The Versatop is light enough to take with you camping or tailgating. The only option I don't care for is the lighting system. You get one click each time you turn the knob. This forces you to guess on how long to open the knob to full allowing propane to flow to the burners before having to turn the knob to off, then back on for the click to light. This process has resulted in a fireball under the griddle on one that more occasion. I plane on purchasing a battery operated piezo lighter like most propane grills offer. This would allow me to open the knob and engage the battery powered piezo as the propane flows to the burners and avoid the guessing process. But this is a personal preference only. Knowing this now would not keep me from purchasing Camp Chef over Blackstone again.

NO leveling feet thread inserts in bottom of grill. Can't mount feet.
Manufacturer missed a step. Leveling feet thread inserts were never installed. can't mount leveling feet. The grill is useless with out them as the bottom will get too hot to use the grill on any table surface. Come on Camp Chef, REALLY!?!? Your quality control person let this go out the door? I've used a 3 burner Camp Chef stove for many many years. Wanted to down size for occasions where its just the wife and I camping or traveling. Thought the Versatop 2X was the hot ticket as I have a 16" BBQ Box already. Then this....very disappointed Camp Chef fan.05/10/2023 I've been in contact with Camp Chef for a warranty claim. To be fair, I received my Versatop 2X on Saturday, discovered the problem and submitted the warranty claim Saturday. Camp Chef responded Tuesday 05/09/23 asking for information and again 05/10/23 with a resolution. Camp Chef responded quickly and professionally to solve my warranty issue. Thank you, Camp Chef.

top warps
I have two of these. For the most part it is good. But the cooktop is an issue when mixing different temperature ingredients.. Even when seasoning and breaking in the cooktop it doesn't like temperature changes. When making cheesesteaks there is no way to cook the onions and mushroom then put cold steak meat on it without the top warping 3/4 of an inch or so. I added hooks to keep the top attached to the base and the base was warped. Not sure if it is a design issue or materials issue. But it certainly doesn't work like I would expect an expensive cooktop should. That said, the versatility of the grill and pizza attachment are awesome. But if you only are using the cooktop there should be better and cheaper options.

Mine didn't work, but...
I tried various methods to get this to work. It just wouldn't. I requested a refund, and got that immediately. There was some tracking difficulty, but that.. is becoming common. An email, and I was given a good response immediately. Now, for all that, I will buy another of these. Just, probably not a small one. I'll look for the larger ones, and ones I can return more easily. For the ease of, for their part, the return, I will continue with the company. I am sure I want one of theirs, just probably one that takes one of the full sized tanks.

Quick connect access
Overall the griddle has good size and is easy to use. If you want to use quick connect to an RV then you have to buy their proprietary adapter that is only sold thru their website which is consistently out of stock. If the goal is to quick connect to an RV then I WOULD NOT buy this one. Blackstone and others have easy quick connect access and accessible parts. I have researched this online and called Camp Chefs customer service to be told it is still out of stock, call back in a week, and no I can’t order it ahead.

Would not recommend
Didn’t work as advertised.I would not recommend this product and had multiple issues with it. Never worked properly or heated beyond 200 degrees. The issue in my opinion is the propane connection. Camp chief seemed to make a great product then put on a cheap connection. I even tried multiple propane tanks and even a large tank with no charge.
