The Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947-57

I'll keep this short as I didn't purchase this book for myself. However I bought this for my fiance who loves her fashion, loves the history behind fasion, she loves fashion art/photography, and particularly loves this era and the style. When I gave the book to her and she opened the paper she was stunned and I think there may have been a little tear - she absolutely adores this book!!!If you're looking for a gift for someone who's is studying fashion or photography or as in my finance's case, is fascinated by the fashion and designs of the era and would enjoy looking back at such beautiful designs, you will not go wrong with this book!!!

Vivid pictures and nice description of the golden age of couture. Very informative.

Yet again Claire Wilcox and the team pull off another superb publication. Fashion is such an integral part of life and this book goes a long way to show what impact it had on women post war.What I especially liked was to finally see a picture of the model Bettina. This is the one and same individual that Vivienne Westwood named her Bettina jacket after. easy to see whyIf you have any young aspiring designers in your household then this is essential reading

This is beautiful book for anyone interested in beautiful clothes, history of haute couture, nostalgia. Its kept me quiet for ages. Beautiful pictures and enough info to keep it interesting. A great present idea.

This book is a reference book, it is derived form the exhibition at the V&A some years ago now. It contains beautiful images of garments and fashion photography. It is a beautiful coffe table book.

This book has some great pictures. I love vintage frocks, especially Dior, and this book has some lovely dresses to look at. There is quite alot of writing - which I wasn't really intersted in - I just like the pictures.

Just initially flicked through the book.. it's great, second-hand but looks new.Fast delivery too

What a golden age. Fabulous photos give a real feel of the era. Beautiful couture shown at its best and make you wish you could turn the clock back.

Gran libro (tanto en tamaño como por su contenido) que te retrotrae a la epoca y explica las circunstancias, como se funcionaba entonces,...Hecho de menos un listado de lo que hubo expuesto en la exposision que dio pie a que se escribiera el libro y que explique en los vestidos que aparecen en el libro en que material estaban hechos.

If you are even mildly interested in post-war couture you need this book. The photographs are numerous and "absolutely fabulous"! The publisher is the V&A so you can expect a thorough and well done book. Check out the dimensions of this book...I didn't and was pleasantly surprised. I've only looked at it twice in the three days since I received it and have got to go back again and again, there is so much to look at! Since you are reading this review I'm assuming you are interested in the book...do not hesitate, just buy it!! You will not be disappointed.

Da ich selbst schneidere und mir der 50er Jahre Stil gefällt hab ich dieses Buch bestellt... ein Traum! Auch wenn man nicht näht sind die Bilder und Stories rund um die Hochblüte der Haute couture ein Genuss und interessant für jeden Modebegeisterten.

I loved this book. So many beautiful photos of great fashions from the 40s and 50s.
