Most interesting coffee table book...
I have read in quite some time. The articles are written by some gregarious folks we know and love from the recent past. The photos are engaging and lead you back to a revolutionary time in which so much was changing; both ethereal and corporeal. An absolute joy to pick up. Every time.

Nice coffee table book, but wished for better photos and behind-the-scenes
As another reviewer stated, you may enjoy looking at the real magazine instead of buying this expensive book. The resolution of most of the photographs is poor because they were copied from old Holiday magazines vs. printed from file negatives. Apparently, no photo archive exists unless you count those of individual photographers like Slim Aarons, and several of the Aarons photos in this book are available with higher resolution in Aaron's books. Also, the book was skimpy on behind-the-scenes information and photographs. If you want a brand new Holiday without the moldy smell of the old originals, I suppose this will have to do. Otherwise, save your money and go directly to the orignals. Also, the old ads add to the fun.

Love the book, too bad it’s bent.
gorgeous book... but was sent to us in a polymailer - so the spine is bent and damaged in a few spots.

The Traveler's World That Once Was
Pamela Fiori has created a book about the Golden age of travel and the Golden age of magazine writing. When Fiori joined Travel's team, she brought along her stamp of taste and elegance She has also contributed to its astonishing success, world-wide, of The Best Travel Magazine That Ever WasFiori introduces Travel Magazine to its readers with her personal story; arriving in New York as a job-hunting young woman, then follows with essays by distinguished writers,The founders of Travel published the monthly magazine at the right time and in the right place--from Post World War lI through the 1960s. Americans had been longing to visit Europe-- yearned for exotic places like India and Morocco. In the States there was Hollywood and Palm Springs, on the other coast, Broadway and the Catskills, .Behind the magazine's wistful, gentle cover, are pages of breathtaking, color-drenched phonographs, drawings, watercolors, and ephemera, images of beaches with beauties, style, fashion, gardens, Cafe Society, High Society. and important historical figures all reflecting the post-war Sixties, in America and Europe. The book's material is authentic , a time capsule from the 60s until the end of the next decade and then to the end of the century when travel would never again be the same. The challenge of travels, the difficulty of travels and yes, now the danger of travels. With Travel, the Magazine, the reader can have an accurate glimpse of the world that once was.
