Really sturdy but lightweight, aluminium no plastic.. three lengths of tube that interconnect to get the right height of shovel for the job..ie digging out the car or clearing pathways.. fits in the bag provided and takes up no room in the boot of the car.. I would highly recommend spending a bit more as the smaller collapsible ones are quite flimsy

not used yet but tried all combinations and it feels light but sturdy the ability to take to pieces to make it easily storable is what makes it great i recommend it highly

Good quality, tiny space is good for storage in car but solid and strong material.

Not used in anger yet (and to be honest, I hope I don’t) but for snow/sand it ought to be sturdy enough. I like that you can use it long or short handled just by using the different push button handles which will ensure that the handle stays connected!

Stuck on ice on first day after purchase. Used the short extension to clear the area in front of the rear wheels. It gave me enough traction to get going and manoeuvre out of a really tight spot.

A brilliant bit of kit, strong and easy to put together. Just what I needed to get the snow of the paths, I love that it fold into parts and that it can be stored in its own bag. I’m thinking about putting it in my camper van or buying a second for that. Highly recommended.

I bought this specifically to keep in a compact car for Winter emergencies. Had the chance to use it and it worked exactly as desired. Got the car stuck on a plow berm and had to dig it out. The shovel itself comes in its own little nylon bag and the whole thing is really light and compact (which is especially important in a smaller vehicle) . Putting it together was easy. Just press the springloaded buttons and snap the pieces together (which I was able to easily do with gloves on). Two of the main reasons I chose this collapsible shovel in particular: 1) it has a longer handle than most of the other options, which is a huge plus. Don't have to bend over as much, and it also allows me to easily reach/dig further under the car. 2) the collapsible USGI shovels have a fairly stronge hinge (but a much shorter length than this shovel), but as seen in Amazon reviews, the cheap Chinese made shovels have pretty fragile/unreliable folding hinges. This design doesn't have a folding hinge. I used it to dig myself out, and the shovel worked great in the typical mix of compacted snow and ice in the berms/ridges that the city plows leave behind. Even chiseling through some of the more solid chunks didn't faze this shovel. Once I dug my car out, taking it apart was just as easy. Although the black coating was scraped off the bottom front edge of the shovel blade, the shovel held up great. It may not be the best choice for hardpacked dirt (a USGI shovel, or the Cold Steel Spetznaz or Trench shovels would be stronger, but as mentioned, those are much shorter), but as an emergency compact snow shovel, this thing is GREAT!

Great emergency shovel. Light but sturdy. Perfect to shovel loose material like snow and sand. Ideal to have in your emergency gear in your car, snowmobile and ATV. It is the kind of tool you must have in your vehicle, in case you get stuck in snow or sand. Around here it is most likely to be use during winter when your car get stuck in a snow bank or in deep snow. It is a must to remove snow in order to get your traction aids under your tire. If you get stuck in deep snow with your snowmobile or ATV, you will be glad to have it. Also if your snowmobile or ATV break down in the middle of nowhere and you must build yourself an emergency snow shelter for the night, this shovel is a life saver. This shovel is build to be light and portable. It is to be use in emergency for intermittent use and to shovel loose material. It will not replace a proper shovel or spade. It isn't strong enough for heavy and rigorous duty. Don't expect to till your garden with it or shovel hard compacted/icy snow. If you do you will ruin it in no time.
