This was a stupid annoyance in that it could easily have been avoided. My old metal and wood apartment door had the correct holes and this plate was being replaced. Exact same plate, just clean. OMG, one of the bolts is still sticking out 1 mm, and every nut depressed the back of the door a little just to pull in the rest. A hammer couldnt just force them in! So the plate has some scratches already. great.Totally forthcoming, the door is old, holes gross, and not straight. But there was no room for error. Needs to be a little more tolerance. Ok, a drop less surface area. But those cutouts could also be triangles. Not standard, but not all standards are ideal.

Also measure how far the lock cylinder extends from the surface of the door, and make sure you have clearance for the Cylinder Guard Cover Plate. Do your preparation first and there should be no problem installing these Cylinder Guard cover plates.

After installing the deadbolt, this protective device provides an extra exterior barrier against protruding. Modern quality design also!

This product fits perfectly over my cylinder. I only wish it came with cap nuts. Other than that, I love it.
