This is a great book - must read!
I saw Mark speak on the Hallmark Channel back in October. I have two pre-teen boys and I know things are going to start changing with high school - not only do I want to make sure they are ready...but I want to make sure I am ready to be there fore them in a new way! Mark's advice is easy to understand and apply. I've already started shifting my style from teaching to "training" as he calls it, and practicing better listening -- I think we call could use help there! I sticky-noted several pages to refer back to...I'm sure I'll be re-reading or using it at a reference guide over the next few years...

Great Perspective
I raised six kids of my own, now in their 30’s and 40’s. We adopted a (then) 17 year old out of the foster care system last year, and just had her 14 year old sister placed with us last week. We will adopt her, also.Raising teens now is far different than it was when my bios were that age! I was unprepared for the 17 year old last year, and she left as soon as she turned 18 (which was her plan all along). After reading this book, I feel that I am better prepared to continue dealing with our 18 year old and to deal with our 14 year old. Thanks, Mark!
