It was time to replace my 10 year old laptop. It has served me well, and I'm convinced that getting a top of the line model was a big part of the reason for that. So I had to get a new computer that had better specs. And I did. The 2019 edition of the HP Envy should be anyone's envy. I still have an Intel Core i7 chipset; the 10th generation and high speed mean the new computer starts in a flash. Speaking of "flash", the 1TB SSD hard drive provides faster data access than the previous twin 320GB drives in the 10 year old unit. I've preferred NVidia to AMD for graphics chips and memory, so that's an improvement. The 16GB RAM doubles what was in the old computer. The 17.3" screen is the same size, and the 1920x1080 resolution is just fine. And the HP still has an optical drive (what we used to call a DVD-RW). All that, and the HP has smaller external dimensions and weighs about half as much. The B&O sound is great. Even the fingerprint scanner works well. And with a little switch on the side to disable the camera if I'm not using it, I don't have to put a piece of tape over it. I'm a happy camper here! (Oh, and it cost less than the 10 year old computer, too.)

I had purchased an HP envy back in the day about 2015. It was a touchscreen and worked excellent time it had beats audio in it. I I use that until It’s untimely death due to having a cup of water knocked over on it by my cat. This one I ordered and received is amazing mama the speed the touchscreen is very good the fingerprint reader I absolutely love. I can download files that I couldn’t download before quickly I am I can also stream my Netflix and HD and the fact that it comes with Bang and Olufsen speakers, makes it even more amazing. By far this is the Highest quality Laptop that I have ever owned. I highly recommend anyone that needs it for school I am for fun for watching videos, playing games, or simply just watching videos on YouTube. The screen resolution is actually very very good for the price. I am absolutely completely satisfied with my purchase and would definitely purchase another HP if I ever have to.

Successfully tested all features; everything works as advertised.SSD storage, touchscreen, fingerprint reader, DVD writer, USB3 ports, HDMI, Ethernet & wireless, Bluetooth, camera, microphone, speakers, cardreader, mousepad, lighted keyboard, CPU-speed all function as expected. Sleek design looks smaller and lighter that it really is. Packing and setup all excellent, and flashdrive provided. The screen has nice color, but the backlight leaks at the top on a 'black' screen; this is not a deal-breaker for me. This laptop is a speedy replacement for my desktop, and using a Dock, it is mobile/portable after 1-wire disconnect from two monitors and a sound-system. Activated 1-year warranty with HP. High-end video-gaming or video-processing may push it beyond limits; fully and completely meets my needs - recommended!Update: continues to work very well and meets all my needs.

I have never bothered to write a review before, but this laptop deserves one. I use this laptop for office programs, internet, and occasionally some CAD software. The preinstalled windows 10 pro worked great right out of the box. No messing around with disks and drivers. Startup each time is instant from sleep mode, and super quick from complete shut off. I like the keyboard, touchpad, and touchscreen on this laptop. I also really love with the fingerprint sensor. Who knew how convenient that could be! Laptop also arrived quickly (ordered on Sunday, arrived Wednesday) All in all, this was just a great experience. I am very happy.

The HP 17t - A good, well rounded computer with more than enough power for 'typical' users.Though I'm an AMD guy at heart, The 2.8 Ghz Intel i7 chip does well, and rips through most appsI run regularly.It's proven itself multitasking, running Cyber Director 14 (video editing), Photoshop, even a fewgames... 1TB SSD is wicked fast, and there's little to no lag. We'll see how that goes over time.16GB SDDR4 RAM, and a 4GB VIdeo card makes gaming (except for the most demanding games)quite enjoyable. Bang & Olufsen sound has a little bass, but it's still a laptop, and audio qualityis acceptable. Touch screen works well, and finger print pad works as long as the orientation ofthe finger you're using is consistent.I'd say this laptop does everything quite well, but doesn't 'stand out' in any way, really. I'm verypleased for the performance I'm getting for the price I paid. It 'll do most everything I ask of it,and quick too... My gaming will stay on my tower PC... everything else the HP does just fine.

I am definitely NOT a computer literate. I got very lucky when I chose this one. It's a beautiful laptop. The weight probably comes from the DVD RW option but OKAY for me as this will not leave my house very often. I have worked on desktop computers for over 25 years and found it uncomfortable to use the smaller keyboards found on smaller laptops. This one is very easy to use. Love the backlit keys (especially at night when I Netflix Party with my grandson) and the keypad. The speakers are also nice. The fingerprint reader can be finicky at times. I have not yet tried to reset it but will to see if it improves. I bought this and a Fujitsu Scansnap ix1500 when I decided to go paperless. Both work well together. I don't use the touchpad much and instead opted for a wireless mouse which works very well with this laptop. I also purchased the Lamicall laptop stand which is very helpful as it provides more airspace under the laptop and is useful when placed on the bed for viewing during the Netflix Party movies! I don't think the battery lasts as long as advertised but right now it's used daily for hours during my paperless project. I almost bought the 13" size laptop but am very, very pleased with this 17" laptop and will purchase another (without DVD/RW option) when there is a sale.
