Wholesome and delicious
Wasn’t familiar with the term “groat” but I had been making steel cut oats for breakfast for years before deciding to level up to whole oats. They cooked quicker/easier than expected - brought to a boil in a pan and allowed to cook for 2 minutes the night before. Turned off heat and left covered overnight. Fully cooked when I checked the following morning (no need to cook further). Oats were Tender but still held some texture and mild flavored. Note, my pan still had trace moisture in the bottom using 2 parts water, one part oats. Will use less water next time to produce a more aldente texture.ITopped with chia, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, almonds, fruit and milk. No need for sweetener.Very happy with the taste, texture and overall value of this product.

Here's how to cook them in 5 minutes.
The quality of these groats is excellent. To make for breakfast, soak 2 or 3 cups of groats overnight. In the morning, drain the groats and take 1 or 2 cups and place in your blender (Blendtec or Vitamix) with 1 cup of water per cup of groats. Pulse 7-8 times until you have the groats roughly chopped.Place in small pan on med heat. Stir and add more water if the mix is too thick for your taste. Stir and as this heats, it will thicken quickly. The whole thing for me takes about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and serve, adding whatever floats your boat.Take the remaining soaked groats and refrigerate in a jar or small container for use in the upcoming days. These are delicious and so very healthy.Simply soak the pan in hot water and soap and in about 30 minutes it will clean up like a dream.

CLEAN AND FLAVORFUL-- AT A REASONABLE PRICE!
It's always a pleasure to be able to recommend a product without hesitation. So many natural products arrive in dust, debris and, consequently, disappointment--but these have been pristinely clean every time I order. They are always fresh insofar as can be determined, which is, I think, mostly down to flavor and cooking times. (I flatten them into rolled oats with an attachment for my Ankarsrum bread mixer, and they are an indispensably daily breakfast in our house.) One reviewer, above, wrote that these oat groats cannot be sprouted because their hulls have been removed, but apparently there are now oat groats with paper-thin hulls, easily removed, that do sprout. These new kinds are listed as both organic and non-GMO. If you want to sprout these oats, I suggest doing some research about those claims, then trying to sprout them yourself. (We do not sprout them, so I don't know more about that than I've read.)

Misbagged? Does not appear to be oats
I believe I was sent some grain other than oats. Very dark, didn’t flake and instead shattered. I tempered them and they flaked better but they did not cook or taste like oats. Will not use the 14 lbs I have.As an update to this review the seller reached out and was very responsive to my concerns. They are sending a replacement bag. Changing to 5* for responsiveness and commitment to their product.

Delicious, Hearty, Versatile.
I like these groats. I can cook them on the stove or overnight in the slow cooker. I can make them creamy or still "grainy" like rice for a hearty, filling breakfast that stays with you but is easy to digest all at the same time. I think it will work excellent for casseroles or vegan burgers as well, but have not tried the savory recipes yet

Excellent Healthy Groats
Excellent groats. I roll the groats in a Molina oat roller and have fresh oatmeal every day. No long cooking time. By rolling my own, I get all the nutritional benefits, plus a little exercise cranking the machine! LolOatmeal in the store has lost most of its nutritional value and the oils are rancid. People eat it because that’s what they are used to, try making your own and you’ll taste the difference. Great price on this 14 pound bag.
