I ordered these oval hoops to compare them to the very similar ones from Walmart. They are both rubbery, imitated-wood and are similar price and quality. Appearing more realistic, the ones from Amazon look better in my opinion. I'll be ordering these same ones for future projects. Initially, I second guessed this Amazon purchase based on other reviewers explaining the hanging ring isn't perfectly centered once assembled. I figured I would return them if they were poor quality, but after using them I found that any inability to get the hanging ring centered is user error; with some patience you can get it centered, while keeping the cloth taught. I would recommend working on your project in a wooden Embroidery Hoop, then moving it to the oval display frame once complete (hints the name Display Frame).

These look a lot nicer than I thought they would. The rubber part can be difficult to get around the hoop with fabric, but once it’s on it’s very secure. I actually preferred holding this hoop and stitching on it that putting my fabric on my hoop stand - it held the fabric more taut and was easier to use. And it looks good with the finished product.

These hoops are a convenient way to frame your needlework.

For display only. I usually like to keep my projects in the hoop I made them in because I’m lazy lol but that’s just not realistic with these. They just don’t hold the fabric tight enough. I gave 3 stars on easy to use because it is really easy to get the fabric in. I ended up buying a 12 in hoop to do the projects in. But these look good enough to hang up. The wood look is surprisingly convincing. The picture is the one I made in this hoop, you can tell how loose the fabric was. It was so frustrating I decided to not to do a matching one like I had originally planned. I didn’t even bother to finish her face lol. But I am excited to frame my next project in one of these. My daughter made a request that this frame will match perfectly.As for the needles that come with the set, they’re probably fine for cross stitch, but were completely useless to me for embroidery.

A little weird to get the outer frame around the base , but the end result is nice .
