Very good phone no real complaints
Review OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren EditionI bought this phone to replace my Google Pixel 2XL after copious amounts of research into a lot of the big players in the Android world, Samsung, Google, Huawei and what each maker had to offer.I watched YouTube videos, read reviews and compared stats on screens, RAM, storage, battery life and all that jazz before deciding that OnePlus would be getting my money this time around.I do like to have the best where I can afford it and the prestige that comes with the McLaren Edition was too good to pass up.So was it worth it?Well the phone itself is brilliant, I am very happy with it, it runs like a dream, the battery life is brilliant and it charges from dead to full in about 90 minutes.I can't say that the user experience is much different to my pixel but it just seems, better, somehow. It's great not to have to charge my phone several times a day too, that is a real plus.I don't like charging my phone overnight so what I have been doing is popping it on charge for an hour before I go to bed and getting it into the 90% area and then it lasts pretty much to the next night unless I have a marathon gaming session or something.Gaming is one of the things that this phone is really good at and this is reflected in some of the influencers that OnePlus have decided to partner with to review this phone.I like to play PUBG mobile and to be perfectly honest my old phone would struggle mightily when there was a lot going on on screen, that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. It's weird that you don't necessarily notice the absence of something until it's brought up but thinking back it just doesn't happen anymore. The phone is weighty, heavier than my pixel and probably one of the more heavy devices on the market today, it gives it a sturdy premium feel.It looks great without the case and the 'stain' looking thing on the back around the camera is supposed to be there mirroring the dash of McLaren vehicles.Once you put the case on however things change, at first it's a very nice case, with suede and the OnePlus and McLaren logos in silver metal embossed into the suede. After a few days however these letters come loose and if you are particularly unlucky like I was you may cut yourself on the metal, you see it is sturdy, sharp metal! I was fortunate to have received a carbon fibre case for Christmas so was able to swap this out. And the new one looks much better. So much for premium! The camera is very decent and I like the fact that there are three, wide angle, normal and macro. Makes it much easier to take photos of whatever without messing about with zooming. The manual mode is great, I used to enjoy long exposure photography with my 'real' camera and you can do exposures up to 30 seconds with this. The front camera is a novel feature and allows for a bigger screen with less bezel and it is a fairly decent selfie camera if you're into that kind of thing, I personally only use it for unlocking the phone, which is cool to see it pop up.Face recognition is accurate and I have tested it whilst pretending to be asleep and by using a photo of myself, neither of which worked. The fingerprint scanner works but takes just a little bit longer than facial recognition so I tend not to use it to unlock.I haven't really done many videos with it but the slow motion is very fun to use.I did have some problems with apps not pushing notifications when they should and there is something in the options which you need to toggle to get them to work, I can't remember what option it is but you can easily find it with a Google search. All in all this phone is fantastic, however after a few months of ownership I can't really say that the McLaren edition offers that much over the standard 7T Pro. I'm unsure if the extra 4gb of ram would be noticeable but I'm hoping that gives me just a little bit more future proofing. If I had to make the decision now between the regular and the McLaren I think I'd save myself a bit of money and get the regular. There's just not enough extra to warrant the spend.Pictures included taken on the phone and also of the logo on the back falling off, unfortunately mine now says "Mc r n" and I don't use this case anymore.

Best Phone Yet
Great product.Pre ordered this phone as a replacement for my outdated Pixel 2. I moved away from the pixel family due to disappointment over the Pixel 4, and refusing to splurge 4 figures on a flagship phone. The phone arrived at work in a very fancy and very very orange box, fair to say a lot of people were wondering just what the h*** I was getting. The unboxing was very satisfying, with an almost Easter egg like hidden compartment for the special edition McLaren case.Phone in hand is incredibly thin and light for something this substantial. No denying this is a big phone, however it doesn't feel big and bulky in hand. The aesthetics are also a major plus, from front and sides it's quite striking with the full screen (no notches or cut outs!) and waterfall display (the screens curves and falls away at the sides). On the back is probably the most 'controversial' design aspect. Personally I love the raw carbon fibre effect of the back panel, this effect fades in and out depending on the angle of the light reflecting upon it. However I can understand why some people would dislike it. This is truly a 'marmite' design choice, you will either love it or hate it.Also the Papaya Orange accents around the side back and bottom is a nice subtle touch. In the box is the usual stuff, no headphone adaptor which was slightly disappointing, but you can pick these up for a few bucks on Amazon. The packaged charger is a 'Warp' charger at 30W. This has been a fantastic feature over the last few months, after a full day at work I get home and I may have still 60% battery level, but I put it on charge, have a quick shower and change. In that short time I'm back up to 80+% charge and have more peace of mind whilst heading on a night out. The best little plus of the box contents is the bundled special edition McLaren case as mentioned earlier. The case is two tone/material with a carbon fibre effect hard plastic and a soft touch fabric. Very nice premium case.Set up was nice and easy, used the already installed OnePlus phone switch app. Took about 10-15mins to transfer everything from my old pixel to my new phone. The specs of the phone speak for themselves, top of the line specs at time of release. Still extremely high end a few months later. Not many phones can claim 12GB RAM and a 90Hz screen. I'm not sure if it's the massive amount of RAM, the super fast screen refresh rate or a combination of them both, bit the thing that grabs your attention first is the responsiveness and smoothness of the screen. Not sure how to explain it, but it just feels a lot faster and smoother than any other phone I've used or tested in the shops. The biggest difference for me was changing from vanilla android by Google to a modified OnePlus version, however the changes were very intuitive so it only took me a couple days to get used to. My biggest worry before I bought the phone was that the waterfall display could lead to me pressing the screen accidentally, this does happen occasionally for the first week, bit you naturally get used to how to use it without mistake presses. The camera was also another concern as having used the pixel phone for 2 years I was spoilt when it came to photo quality. I need not have been worried, some of the pictures I have taken have been incredible, but I did need to use the pro feature on the he camera app and select the right settings to get the best out of it (a few photos taken while on holiday are attached). As a point and shoot camera I would say this is above average but far from the best (pixels, galaxy, and iPhone series out class it) but if you are willing and experienced enough to set up your own photos, then the camera easily keeps up with the much higher priced flagships out there. The front facing camera is quite good, however if you use this for phone unlocking there is a slight delay as the module pops up before it scans your face. Not a long delay, but it's still there, I don't mind this as the underscreen fingerprint scanner is very quick and accurate, also due to the front camera retracting into the phone it means you can view the beautiful screen to its maximum potential. Watching YouTube or Netflix is a joy. The 90Hz AMOLED screen really pops, OnePlus offers a video enhancement option in the display settings; which only go to further increase the viewing pleasure.Battery life is fantastic, on a very heavy day of usage at work I still have about 40% battery by 8pm. A very heavy day usage would include 2-3hours sat nav, about 2hrs phone calls, 50+ photos, hotspotting my laptop during 2-3hrs of meeting and probably a couple hours browsing the internet or watching videos. Overall I'm very pleased with the battery life. All in all...Is there better phones out there?Probably yesAt this price? Not a chance.Would I recommend this phone?Yes! However it's no longer available on Amazon, I would still recommend getting the standard OnePlus 7t pro when the OnePlus 8 comes out as it has almost identical specs (only difference 8GB RAM vs. 12 GB RAM in the McLaren edition) and the OnePlus 7t pro will sure drop massively in price making it even more tempting than its competitors.Hope this review was useful for at least one person 😊
