What’s the difference in these and the bones art elite 101a

Elites are a more “Reactive” wheel for competition Art and Figure skating due to hardness. The higher the rating the harder the wheel. 101a Has been my go-to wheel since debut in 1992. They are smother in figures for directional transitions, yet grip tight on both wood and concrete Polly surfaces. This really matters most in your Spins and Axels, because we don’t want our edges slipping at all. Land a jump, edge into a spin, and maintain a tight line effortlessly. For an experienced Beginner to intermediate skater, (You can skate on 2 wheels F/B either direction and perform combo moves like 1/4-1/2 axel into/out of spin, toe loops, etc.) I would highly suggest 57mm 96a. It’s an instant transition from typical soft hybrid in/outdoor wheels, and speed isn’t too quick for steps you’re learning now. In National level competition, speed can be your enemy if easily gets away from you. Balance is key to winning medals. Faster we spin, or glide through choreography of dance, we get off balance and timing really sticks out like a “Zit!”

Shoe Size has absolutely NO RELEVANCE to wheel dimensions! Dimensions are directly related to following 3 key factors in skating or boarding: #1: Grip- “We skate on all kinds of surfaces from wood to Rubber Coated Concrete!” The softer the wheel (50-70a) the more forgiving and smoother it rolls on rough surfaces. The higher (80-107a) rated wheels you are solid in feel, hold edges on any surface that is smooth or coated, and do not flex or “Squash” when landing from Mars! Which leads to: #2- Hardness. Again, lower rated wheels will absorb impact of bumps and pebbles or ease the transition “out of landing small hops from Pluto!” Higher rated, used indoor primarily, and for competition- we don’t want a soft wheel that “Squashes” on landing or in spins. This will pull your form out of tight lines you’ve been trained to HOLD. Like whipping a rope vs. a wire. Rope lands softer and wobbly. Wire harder and holds straight line. #3- Speed! Wheel dimensions are a huge factor of speed! Low-profile very wide wheels with spike like core for example- are used in derby and speed skating. Compare a 68 to a 57, and wrap your head around why Wider or Larger Circumference wheels would help your style of skate. Boardwalk for example- I would not want a 57mm 101a wheel! Too narrow for sidewalk contours, too hard for surface debris and bumps, and too fast for quick stopping at crosswalks or spilled chili cheese fry puddles!

The universal “Axel” size for TRUCKS in roller skating and boarding is 8mm! Beatings therefore are Universally Manufactured for 8mm Axels! Wheels are molded to Standard inner 8mm glide, and outer edge does not roll against anything! It girls the inner core of the wheel to prevent what we call “Choking”. When a wheel rolls smooth than all sudden feels like you hit a pebble for split second drag in speed/smoothness. The bearing normally won’t slip on wheel easily for this reason, and you should always use a bearing press to insure “Even Seating” in core so wheels don’t wobble! Another huge factor in speed/smoothness.
