Fanny Deployment Tactical Waist Pack - Small Sling Pack Hand Carry Handlebar Bag

After 4 or 5 years of hard use, my last beltpack developed a tear. I was momentarily at a loss as new beltpacks for hiking and camping from my favorite retailers and manufacturers cost more than I wanted to pay. I found this guy selling for about 1/2 of what the name brand packs were going for. I was pleased the moment I opened the package. The material used for construction is very sturdy. All of the snap buckles feel very sturdy. I transferred everything from my old beltpack to this one and everything fit very nicely. I give this item a couple of pluses over the old one because of the two side pockets. I put some really important gear like a multi-tool and a few other items in the side pockets. I will not have to fumble around in the main compartments to find them now. Minor downchecks: One, there were no instructions on how to attach the belt to the unit. The belt can be attached so this pack can be strapped around your waist, or so that you can carry it as a shoulder bag. You have to figure out how to do that. It is not rocket science, but it took me 2 or 3 tries to get it just right, and I am pretty good mechanically. I can imagine someone getting frustrated by this. Also, there are some minor rough edges to the interior construction. Nothing that affects functionality or sturdiness though. BIG Plus: This beltpack has MOLLE webbing around the front and sides. I have a small-blade emergency knife with a sheath clip that attaches to the webbing perfectly. In fact, I have several knives, flashlights, and multi-tools that will fasten to that webbing. That pushed this review from a 4+ to a 5. I cannot predict durability, but the fabric of the bag, the strapping, and the stitching look durable. After that, only time will tell. One more very minor downcheck. There are no reflective flashes on this unit. If you are looking to be stealthy, and this is part of your BOB, that is good. If you are accustomed to sporting gear that is pre-equipped with reflective flashes, and you are interested in being seen by cars or rescue personnel, you might want to add some reflective flashes.

I love this! It is perfect for what I needed, easy to carry, holds everything, and storage is easy peasy. It is durable, and comfortable to carry. Highly recommend!

I bought this for tools for my bass guitar. It has great pockets with lots of room. It is very sturdy. I can attach it to anything because of the design and don’t use it as a sling or on a belt. The cons: while it is sturdy, the seams are uneven on the front pocket. It doesn’t affect the use, but it bugs me. Also, the strap is really small and useless as a belt or a sling. Even adjusted , it’s at best able to be worn on one shoulder.

Update 6/28/17: I have changed the two-star rating to a five-star rating due to the response and care I received from Lily at customer service. Within a day of the original comment I received an email. We corresponded and she then went to a lot of trouble to send me a bag with the tan hardware. They must have had to sort through many of them to find one. I suggested that they inform customers on the web page that it is not guaranteed to come with tan hardware. They almost immediately put pictures up with notification that the bags are randomly shipped with either black or tan hardware. That is good customer service, quickly responding to customer suggestions! The factory was at the root of the issue, using both black and tan hardware. Excellent customer service. Excellent customer concern. Excellent follow-through. I received the proper bag within a couple of days of our email conversation. I am pleased with the bag and the service. I will be more than willing to buy more products from G4Free and plan to do so as needs arise. What a pleasant experience with customer service. I can't say so often enough. As good as any company I have dealt with and better than most. As for the bag itself, it is excellent quality for the price. The material and stitching seem strong. The zippers are single tab pull but that is a minor inconvenience for the excellent price of the bag. The strap will expand to fit a very large waist or chest (I can adjust for cross-chest carry to go over a load-vest or fully-loaded safari vest, and I am not a small man). I have used the bag for over a month with no problems (even used it in quite rough conditions, at times). It is now one of my everyday grab-and-go bags for outings beyond home base. I use it as a waist bag at times but mostly as a quick throw bag over the chest to carry specific items I might need on-hand, along with several other 'kit' bags that serve specific purposes. I was delayed in updating the review due to personal causes and being away. I apologize for the delay. Again, extremely pleased with the bag and customer service. I am sure I will buy more from G4Free considering how many bags I use for various purposes and tasks. I hope many others will also give their products a try. Original review 5/9/17: This would have been a 5 star review had the plastic buckles/hardware been tan as shown in the picture. They are black, which basically negates its usefulness for my purposes/needs. I searched on Amazon for a bag such as what is shown in the picture, one with tan buckles/hardware to match the bag color. There were others in tan with black buckles/hardware, which I skipped when choosing this one. I am very disappointed. I had an immediate need so I kept it. Plus, it isn't worth the hassle or my time to return it. I doubt if I will trust this brand again. I will look for something else with the correct colors. If the black buckles/hardware are not important to you, then the bag itself seems well made and will probably hold up well. Thus the 2 star rating.
