Great during its prime
Rift was an amazing MMORPG. It was the best during its Subscription model. Had a very fun and unique storyline. Great Raid system, fun PVP. Its F2P now on Steam but its not that great. Its been over a decade, but still has a few thousand players

Real Gamer Review
Rift is a fast-action game, but I would not delete my WOW characters quite yet.PROS: The action is intense. It seems you're fighting all the time. Rifts can and do open anywhere. I have never fought and been killed this much in a game before. And getting killed costs big time. You have to repair your soul after each death (this is the same as repairing armor in WOW). The only way to close a rift is to join a group and work as a team. I like this aspect of the game. Rewards are given based upon one's participation in a group, and anyone who fights in a rift joins a 'pickup group'. The interfaces and tool bars are similar to WOW. That makes the learning the game all the easier. You can mix and match talents. My character is a warrior, but I also have a hunting pet. I like the double team action it provides. There is a battle front finder. This is similar to a dungeon finder in WOW. It has dungeons, but no group finder for them.Cons: The graphics, while detailed, are a bit muted (I have a new gaming computer set on ultimate graphics). The enemies appear ghost like. They are ill defined, gray, and hard to makeout. Others are flat looking and appear 2 dimensional. Likewise, the foliage and scenery are a bit lackluster. I keep wanting to brighten up the colors. My character is a Guardian. Unlike Stormwind City in WOW, there is only a castle and that's it. The various merchants are scattered around the outside perimeter of the castle. It gives one the feel they rushed the game into production without proper planning. Even the villages are one or two buildings. As you progress in the game, there are more and complex towns. However, none of them matches up to Stormwind. As to the marketplace, the selling interface is primitive. You have to sell one item at a time and there are no max/min buttons for selling repeated objects. As to the armor, I have leveled up many times. It all appears the same. Only the stats change. Participating in Dungeons is nearly impossible, unless you have four or five friends online. Lastly, targeting an enemy during a rift is HARD! When I click on an enemy, I get the friendly character standing right behind it. For this reason, you'll be using the tab key to shift between opponents a lot.Summary: Rift is a fun, fast action game. It has plent of fun group battles. However, the muted scenery, the lack of a dungeon finder, and the one-size fits all armor needs improvement. I think it is worth buying, but it is not as great as some reviewers would lead you to believe.P.S. When swimming down, use the right mouse button, point down, and move forward. The 'X' button is not the same as in WOW. Also the currency is silver, gold, and then platnum. You'll want to learn a trade right away to earn a living. Everything is expensive in the auction house.

Fun and Addicting
I haven't played MMOs since the old Ultima Online days back in the late 90s so I'm somewhat unfamiliar with the current standards of MMORPGs. Even though I've never played WoW, picking up the game was pretty easy. Most of the interface was very intuitive and the gameplay was overall pretty polished, just little bugs here and there that are being fixed constantly with patches. The Good-Graphics were beautiful, especially the land of Telara.-Soul System; so many options, I have a build for leveling, one for tanking dungeons, one for DPS, and one for group PvP. Plus there are so many forums that can advise on improving your builds with different combinations of abilitities/souls and it also is fun to try different combinations yourself.-Lots of different activities to do; can do PvP warfronts, raid rifts, go to dungeons, level up by following quests(which is cool because it is like a scenic tour of the Telara world taking you from one area to the next and forcing you to explore the different little areas), or you can just wander around and check things out-Great to play right now because it is during launch period, there is that excitementThe Bad-Tough to find PUG for dungeons (I decided to join a guild because of this, and since then it's been really easy) but I still would like the option of a dungeon finder-Need a somewhat decent rig/graphic card to run-missing Guild bank (I hear that they are working on one right now)-crafting is not on par with other aspects of the game-no voice chat function, I wish it was built in instead of having to use Ventrilo-wish there was a built-in fps reader isntead of having to run FRAPSOverall I really love this game- can't wait to get home from work everyday to play. I also hear that there isn't much end game content but it's only a month since release so I'll just take my time leveling and enjoy the moment. It's just a lot of fun to read online forums on different people's strategy and build philosophies. The Soul System is a little hard to learn at first but there are so many resources online that you can look at. Great game!BensonEdit: This game has deteriorated to the point that most good players have quit. Trion artificially make you do boring activities to min/max so you have to play stupid events like conquests just to have bonus to compete with the top performers. it's almost like they know their content sucks and no one would play it, so they make it mandatory for top raiders to participate in order to get perks.
