Let's face it- pilots love nothing more than to tell everyone they are pilots. If I wear this every day around the public, it then makes it unnecessary to strike up conversations with everyone and then trying to somehow connect it to a way to mention that I'm a pilot.In all seriousness, this is a very wide lanyard and if you're in uniform it may be a bit too conspicuous- and if you're in uniform it's pretty likely people will figure out that you're crew of some type. The quality of the lanyard is good, but not what I'd consider "premium" as it's thin and the breakaway buckle which sits behind one's neck while wearing is kind of cheesy- but it could save your butt if the lanyard caught on something. The belt buckle thing is very clever and if you attach any keys to your ID badge, it's an easy way to pop off your payload to open a door or whatever you need. I've been places where the security proximity card readers are down low- so pop off the seat belt buckle and swipe the card without having to bend down and looking un-pilotlike.It's a cool concept, but I think would be much improved by going with a thicker material and less width so it's not a potential uniform violation. Time will tell if the buckle holds up- since I've only had it a short while, I'm being careful about putting expensive and difficult to replace keys on it and I'm a little concerned about a premature de-buckling. As you know, releasing the buckle before being instructed to do so is strictly forbidden.
