Awesome
Awesome waffle maker. I got the digital one (single waffle maker). It looks nice and feels pretty sturdy. I like the countdown timer as well. The waffles cook perfectly & I appreciate that there are shade settings. Nonstick works great and the price is really on point especially when it is on sale. Overall very easy to use, fairly easy to clean, and makes great Belgian waffles! Get it.

This Baby is FAST! I LOVE mine!
I refuse to write a review for a product like this right out of the box. I want to make sure whether I give something a good review or bad? I'm confident I put it through it's rigors. I've had mine almost a year and a half now and I can confidently say that I absolutely LOVE it.In years past, some family members had to eat in shifts because I couldn't make the Waffles fast enough! Now with my Double Rotating Waffle Maker by CRUX, I can practically sit everybody down at once. I think this site might say that you can make 8 Waffles in 10 minutes, I'm not too sure about that, but I'm pretty sure I can whip out 8 in 15 minutes. They start coming out faster the more you make. At least in my case it seems that way. The speed also depends on how crispy you want yours? We like our to have a little bit of crunch on the outside. It cleans up nicely as long as you keep it oiled. I brush mine lightly with vegetable oil before I put the next batch of batter in. It would always clean up in a snap if I wasn't adding exotic ingredients to my Waffles. We give family and friends the choice of Pecans, Chocolate Chips and Coconut! One Nephew said he can't wait to have Uncle Matt's "Candy Bar" Waffles again!Though I've only used it 10 to 15 times since my purchase. When we do break it out, it's usually during the Holidays, Vacation or on special occasions. And with that being the case, I've always got a crowd sipping their coffee and trying to decide how the want their Waffle or Waffles!I don't care much for the recipe that came with my unit, but I've always been partial to a recipe of my own where I whip the Egg Whites to make lighter fluffier Waffles. I suggest you pick out your own favorite recipe in advance.I will pass on a couple tricks of the trade though. DO NOT use the Spray Can Oils on this or ANY Non-Stick Appliances or Pans. The Chemical Reaction is terrible for you and weakens the Non-Stick Coatings! You also don't want to use any Metal Utensils on this unit. We like to use Chop Sticks or the Bamboo Tongs that we take the bread out of the toaster with.Enjoy!Uncle Matt

waffles are 13/4 inches thick, perfect, im glad I picked this one.
I have a set of all-clad 5 ply cookware and was going to buy the all-clad waffle Iron but everyone I read said 1 inch thick. I had a cheaper one before that said 1 inch and was not too happy their 1 inch waffle was no thicker than a regular frozen waffle. I was even gonna buy a restaurant one because it might have been thicker but they too said 1 inch. UNTIL I SAW THIS> 1.4 inch waffle on the CRUX. IM telling you I filled it up with batter and they measured 1 3/4 inches and came out perfect brownish tan both sides just how I remember from back in the day in a restaurant. My very first try on setting 5 and it was perfect. Im so glad I bought this.I think this was a model version or something because the box was opened, not taped or sealed at all and no warranty card or any of the things you get with a kitchen item. I figured I would try it before I sent it back. Guess what? Im keeping it. YES they are that perfect and thick! One thing I found out on my own was when we plugged it in to try it before putting in batter, it wasnt counting down. I thought yup its broke...But then she said maybe you have to put in batter. i said nah, its not ascale. SHE WAS RIGHT. It detects the batter via temp drop and then it will count down, this way it stays hot, at the right temp so its always ready...well for 30 minutes anyway thenit will stop so you dont mistakenly leave it on all day.ITS GREAT, Michael

Not a Belgian waffle iron not a functional.
Waffle iron looks nice but has two major problems:Problem 1.) The heating element burns the center of the waffle while leaving the edges undercooked. I started with the temperature setting at 5 as I would on my old Oster waffle iron. The first photo is a result of that setting. The second photo is the waffle produced when I turned the waffle iron down to heat setting 4. As you can see turning it down does not mitigate the scorch issue. Taking it out when the waffle iron’s timer went off meant the waffle was somewhat raw at the edges. I did have some success with browning all the way out to the edges by turning it to 3 1/2 and leaving it to cook beyond the time but I had to leave it so long that it became tough.I believe this is likely due to faulty Engineering because the outside of the waffle iron becomes extremely hot during use. I could see why other reviews have complained about external elements melting and subsequently breaking.Another heat related issue could be the long term integrity of the enamel coating. Once the iron is heated to the point that it triggers the ready light, the enamel emits a terrible smell like melting plastic.Needless to say we won’t be eating these waffles.Problem 2.) Belgian waffles are supposed to be about 1 1/4” to 1 1/2” or even 1 3/4” thick. The batter has additional leavening agents and on the case of authentic Belgian waffles, the batter will sometimes contain yeast. This iron is advertised as a Belgian waffle iron however, the reservoir is very shallow. You can see in my third photo, even if the heating element worked properly, the waffle is about 1/4”-1/2” thick. It would be fine if the heating element worked well enough to evenly crisp the waffle. In that case you could use it to make ice cream cones. All you get from this waffle maker is a limp, burnt in the middle, raw in the outer edges, non-fluffy waffle.Problem 2b) This may be batter related, may be closing mechanism related…because the reservoir is so shallow, if you do try to use this waffle maker with Belgian waffle batter, the leavening agent in the batter will lift the iron open and spew out.I’m going back to Target to get another cheap $30 Oster. Took years to break it and it made perfect waffles everytime.
