I wouldnt use anything else.
I travel the USA in a 97 toyota land cruiser 80, And the Redarc keeps my auxiliary lithium battery topped off and ready to go, and it doubles as an MPPT to handle the solar panels up top when the truck isnt running.

Excellent Product!
This is the best way to isolate your Starter Battery and your Auxiliary Battery. It automatically handles direct Solar Power connectivity.

Easy to install and use. I have 2 diff. models .. but only work at 50% of rated capacity.
Reliability is a key factor in the car for the road vibrations and temp fluctuations?? maybe that's why every single Victron device I had failed within a year?? good thing they've upped their warranty to 5 years so I could return/sell all the "V" named stuff.I've had it for over a year now.. I chose RedArc initially because at the time there were no other manufactures in North America ... RedArc is from Australia with long tradition of outback camping/driving .... and cheaper than other Australian/European options .. This thing is well built and board is coated with 1/4" of silicone to be 'marine' grade waterproof .. easy to mount outside the car.I chose it as an upgrade to the 40Amp Redarc DC-DC charger which run for a about 3 years without problems .. because I've added solar to the roof and this one has built in MPPT controller .. I've never measured the 40A one as it appeared to work fine with 1 100AH battery as a Car office setup. but I wanted to make sure this one works at rated currents as I've added another 5 batteries ..This model never puts out more than 20.5 Amps of current while being rated at 50Amps??? My alternator is heavy duty 220Amp... which should have 100amp of usable for charging.. I've had long discussions with RedArc support engineers about the limitations .. and there should not be any. I'm running on 2/0 cable directly from Alternator ..So I've added back my original 40A Redarc charger in parralel accoring the RedArc provided recommendations and provided diagram .. which never puts out more than 18Amps .. it seems to be the pattern with this company's products ..The tech support is great, the provided the best diagrams and different ways to connect them .. but they TWICE THE PRICE of the other ones ..so I got frustrated and ordered Renogy's setup .. the same $500 bought me a standalone MPPT controller (50 amps) for 500W of solar panels and a 60A DC-DC controller which just work at the promised ratings. Renogy are not water proof and do not appear to be as good of a quality (cheap flimsy terminals) but they are mounted inside the car and simply work. I still keep the 50A Redarc as backup since it's the smallest of them all, has integrated DC/DC ccharger with solar ... just in case Renogy fails one day.

Works flawlessly, and fantastic customer support!
This unit is built like a tank! Easy to install, just make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. I initially hooked up the grounds to both of my batteries and this does not work. Must be vehicle or frame grounded. Also do not cheap out on resettable 60 amp breakers. They overheat and trip. I then bought the recommended 60 amp blade fuse breakers from Redarc and the whole setup works amazingly! Full 50 amp charge going to my RV battery bank. Service was also off the charts as I had questions about my initial set up.Absolutely worth the money over the other DC to DC chargers available.
