Your Bones: How You Can Prevent Osteoporosis and Have Strong Bones for Life―Naturally

To me this book turned out to be the most important book about osteoporosis which I have read!
Since 2005 I now have bought 35 books about osteoporosis, mostly professionally books meant for doctors, and besides 9 about arthritis, because way back in 2005 then by pain it was discovered that bone marrow was missing in the arm by the right wrist. Some of the first bought books told how lucky we are by the existence of the bisphosphonate, but I didn’t use it, before in October 2018, when it turned out, by a hand tool, that bone BMD was -3.2 so suffering from osteoporosis, and a doctor put me on it. And then by searching in Google, there I only read that it might result in headaches, and other “trifles”. But half a year later, then in other books I found realities about the bisphosphonate, like missing teeth and so on, beside its half-life on 6 - 10 years! Which I since then have learned the doctors about.January last year by a hospital DXA scanning the BMD also showed -3.2, and then in January this year, after 12 months with exercise, vitamins and minerals, the BMD showed -2.3% for the bones and +0.1% for the back. So, I went searching after a book in which I could find an explanation, bought this one, and found how exceptional good its information is, absolutely the number 1 book about osteoporosis.Among other I in the book read about many fantastic research results when taking the AlgaeCal®, or the strontium, both which do not exist Chiang Mai, and the pharmacists says that they can’t get. For years I have asked after strontium (niacin and more). And when I years ago in Amazon ordered the right type of estrogen, I then received a message telling me that they where not allowed to send vitamin, minerals, or drugs, to private persons in Thailand! During years I to doctors have talked about what we are missing here in Thailand. And also, in wain have learned them much more, by showing results in books.Furthermore, in the book I read how the drug which I take against (very mild) epilepsy, actually work against calcium and magnesium, so that I have to take more than normal of these. In the book we read about many research results, and to me there came many unexpected results especially concerning exercising, where some movement gave negative BMD result. As a side remark (unfortunately a bit long) concerning the vitamin C, for which we not are told to take many grams. Way back in 1970 I bought Linus Paulin’s famous book “C vitamin and the common flue” (and now own around 800 doctor and health books). And as I recall it, Lines, when feeling a cold was on the way then he took 100 grams of vitamin C; and that another person took 200 grams. In many books we are advised to take up to 10 grams a day, for helping against many things. And I have read about a woman who during a bit more than one month, by 42 gram/day cured herself for a cancer disease. And as Linus wrote, some persons need to slowing over days or week to increasing the amount vitamin C, for not for example hit by stomach problem. Besides, the half-lime time for the vitamin its told to be between ½ an hour and 3 hours, so therefore it best to take it over many times during the day.During some years I have donated books to the library in the doctor university (besides to the engineering university) and I have brought a copy of this book to the library, and will delivered it together with some other book about osteoporosis. Because, again, the book is absolutely the most important informative book about osteoporosis which I have found.

The case against Bisphosphonates in Osteoperosis.
This book SHOULD be read by everyone facing the "antique" category, and WOMEN in their 20's NOT til your life is destroyed by Osteoporosis do you realize the price you pay for little things later in life like pop and milkshakes. This book was bought just as my wife was prescribed Bisphosphonates - after a fractured disk - her entire bone history was mishandled because, REALLY, medical community seems to HAVE no non-prescription way to handle this. As our Pharmacist says - its all we have. Our Chiropractor - who by the way, found the osteopenia that everyone else had missed, and in the FIRST visit about 5 years ago - MY urologist, another well-known pharmacist I heard speak, and OTHERS, have all said basically the same thing - that bisphosphonate treatment is almost worse than the disease itself; and OVER time it may well be.One quote from a researcher in the book, about this drug "Why would ANYONE prescribe this?"There is an additional wealth of information as well - diet, etc that is NOT new to us. WE have a gym at home - my wife uses it maybe 10 hours a week. She eats carefully.Rather than the drug prescribed which is supposed to MAINTAIN your bone density we went looking for ways to INCREASE bone density. The book has a number of suggestions - we were already taking one of them when we bought the book. We asked her doctor about it when the prescription was given but she was unaware of alternatives. There are OTHER suppliments on the market that may be even MORE aggressive in restoring bone health, but we were comfortable with our choice. It's my wife that's been reading it, but the info I get across the table is that she thinks its a goldmine of information. The author, does, however, ignore the existence of pork. WE eat a lot of it. So the nutritional value info is missing in her charts.BUT that does NOTHING to invalidate the research. Its a "full marks" book for us.

Bought it for my sister because it is a consolidated source of information
I did not give it 5 stars because after following it, we expected good results. Unfortunately, my sister's bone loss continues. Several doctors did concur in the use of Strontium as a "must" in osteoporosis therapy along with Vit D3 and K2 (not K1). I believe this strategy has slowed the bone loss but not stopped it. We just learned that there is a blood test to show bone loss which is even better than the dexa scan which just provides a baseline of bone density. Hence, you need both measurements I think. We are also trying out a product similar to Power Plate that has shown some benefit in building back bone. So this book probably needs to be updated with the new developments to get the 5 stars. The book is a great start for anyone with an osteoporosis diagnosis because it helps educate people on alternative options to the prescription drugs which have terrifying side effects in 10% of users. Imagine losing your jaw or breaking your femur? Those Rx treatments expose you to risks that to me, are even worse than the disease. When I asked the doctor if he was willing to take a Rx drug that might cause him to lose his entire jaw or break his femur, would he take it and the doctor responded "no". He said he would look for alternatives. And yet, he was more than willing to prescribe it for his patients. Don't trust your doctor on this one - find out the facts for yourself! Strontium, Vit D3 and K2 is a great strategy that will help "slow" bone loss. Strontium builds bone that is strong whereas biphosphid drugs build weak bones that are more likely to break. Get the facts. This book is a good start.

and I recommend anyone who is prescribed these gets fully informed before ...
I bought this book to help my mum support her bone health during/after steroid use for an inflammatory condition. I thought I knew a lot about bone health, as I'm a nutritional therapist, but I really learned a lot more from reading this. It's very science based, which is always a help when you're trying to navigate through the minefield of information about what really works and what is just clever marketing by drug companies. The science behind bisphosphonates is truly eye opening, and I recommend anyone who is prescribed these gets fully informed before taking them.
