12 year old loves it, but disc brakes not great out of the box
Not thrilled with the disc brakes; took a lot of adjustment to keep them from scraping. But my son loves it so totally worth it.

Great Kids Bike
This is a great kids bike, especially for off road, it checks most of the boxes.* Hydraulic Disc Brakes (nicer than cable actuated, especially for kids, since they can get enough braking power without massive grip strength).* Name brand Kenda tires (they are 2.6" which is on the plus side official for MTB tires, but they roll nice, would be nicer to have a smoother/narrower tire for road -- but that's not really what this bike is built for.* 2x9 driveline -- 9 speed is huge on a kids bike. Shifter indexes cleanly, and has a nice red line to help kids know where they are. The front derailleur is still hard to manage for most kids, but it's nice to have for larger hills.* Rims are tubeless compatible, great option.* Lock on grips.* Fork has a lockout.As you might expect the weight is up there, it's not super heavy because it's aluminum, but it's not a lightweight bike with the wide tires and suspension fork. The suspension fork is a coil sprung one -- an air fork would have been much nicer here, or even carbon/rigid.

Cadillac of bikes for a young person. This one has all the bells and whistles.
Unbelievable bike! These tires can handle anything and 9 speed drivetrain makes hills a dream for my kid. I used to have to get off my bike and help him up a hill because his old bike couldn't make it but this thing goes!!! Hydraulic brakes (which I had never heard of before} means he actually stops when he is supposed to and on a dime! The bike just looks badass and my son almost sleeps on it.

Awesome bike, my son loves it!!!!!!
My son never liked to ride up hill until he rode this bike. With it's nine gears it makes the strain of riding uphill a thing of the past. The design and handling make this bike a dream for any child. While the price tag may be expensive you can rest assured on the quality and mechanics being top notch over the cheaper bikes you find in a box store. The only negative my son found was the seat wasn't comfortable to him so we put a padded bike seat cover on to solve that problem.
