Gorgeous postcards, perfect for keeping up
I used to luxuriate in long letters to friends and letters. Then I had children, and postcards are about all I can manage these days. Compromise? Luxurious postcards! These beauties fit the bill, and they were absurdly inexpensive, especially considering the high quality.Art Deco and the playful illustrations of the 1920s have always appealed to me, so I guessed I would like this set. What I couldn't tell from the photos is that the front of these are coated, but the back is not. Perfect for writing with a regular pen! Sometimes one finds that the more beautiful postcards require a permanent marker pen for writing. (Here's my hint to you would-be postcard writers: turn the card sideways to write your message. You'll have a bit more room than if you try to parallel your text with the address.)I received these yesterday and have already snuck time to write out three of them! Very glad I bought two boxes.

Four-and-a-half stars
This is the original VANITY FAIR magazine, stylish and popular from 1913 to 1936, but finally went bankrupt. I liked most but not all of these cards, which are excellent for mailing and mounting both. The problem for me is that it is more difficult to indicate 'style' than, say, art or architecture. However, if you're into Postcrossing or stylish postcards, you'll probably be pleased.

a good start !
I purchased the Vanity Fair and Vogue postcard sets and was pleased with both. The Vogue selection has the edge, in my opinion, as the Vanity Fair images seem a bit repetitive. Both sets are very well produced. The cards are on very heavy stock and should last a lifetime if one chooses to keep them as a collectible. The boxes housing the cards are quite sturdy and attractively illustrated. I think this format would lend itself well to advertising art. Individual sets for the 1920s, 30s, 40s etc. would be attractive to graphic and commercial artists along with the general public. Taschen Publishers produced a series of books following this concept that were very well received. Penguin has done such a great job here why not expand the selection.

I want the book ... with text
I am delighted with this collection of period magazine covers but wish there was a companion booklet with an overview of the various artists. The webpage for the Conde Nast store allows one to select covers and then bring up the artist bio for a few of the artists but that is tedious process and no bio is provdided for many of the artists. It becomes a tedious process to do web searches on all the artists.

Beautiful vintage artwork
I'm a member of postcrossing.com and send out several postcards to locations around the world every month. I love being able to send these beautiful cards to people. The artwork is lovely, and I almost always receive compliments on them when the receiver registers them on the site. They're also made of a thick cardstock with a matte finish. The weight is pleasing and the texture divine!

Great Quality & Great Value
I really was not sure what most of the designs of these postcards would be. I was not around in the early 1900's. I had an idea of Art Deco but wow the surprises inside. What gorgeous detailed art! I have had so much fun looking at each card/magazine cover. The postcards are packaged in a nice box and overall the value and quality were excellent.

vintage post cards
I got a set for me and one for my daughter in law. She just got hers and really liked them.I thought they were a little too Art Deco, but I guess these are a little late for Art Nouveau.Nice case.

Good quality
Great quality paper stock, it can hold up to fountain pens, dip nibs, you name it. Unfortunately it dirties easily (the paper is a little waxy and attracts dirt) and not all the postcards look great. Still, not bad if you are sending out large volumes of postcards and need filler stuff.

Quality postcards lots of 1930s designs
Yes its 100 different real postcards. Actual postcards which can be posted through the mail, space on the back for address and message plus a few words about the subject. The quality is really very good, better than some postcards on sale from the racks. A nice sturdy box containing 100 nice sturdy useable postcards.Nothing to complain about here the quality and variety are top notch. These designs don't hit any buttons for me personally so that's a question of taste alone. Many original 1930s designs.

so yes i highly recommend them.
Have bought these to use as thank you cards and general notes to people, i do think that sometimes an e-mail is too easier an option these days, it shows a bit of thought to send these, as i can sift through and find one suitable for the person its to be sent to and also pick a seasonal picture ie a christmas theme. so yes i highly recommend them.

Excellent value
It works out at about 12 pence each for 100 excellent quality postcards and in a lovely box to keep them in mint condition. It's true that there are a lot of art deco designs, but they are very attractive and there is a lot of variety. I think there should be something to appeal to almost everyone. All in all, I am delighted with them.

Great selection of beautiful images
A wonderful selection of postcards, depicting cultural & historic, some politically influenced images - I agree with the reviewers that these are too nice to use! The quality of the card is good. The talent of the artists for some of these covers is fabulous.
