Hole too narrow to fit on a pen, only a pencil

My son has difficulty with gripping pencils and with not having the same thing as he used at school at home I bought these. Turned out these were the same as the schools and he loves them and finds it much easier to write.

We brought these for our 6 year old who was finding writing uncomfortable. Since we brought these a month ago our sons writing has improved a lot and he even got star of the week for his great writing which we never expected.

I put one on my Uniball Eye pen that I use for Zentangles, it went a little way up but now it won't budge. I can't get it up high enough to hold the pen properly and I can't get it off!It does feel great to hold but I don't use many standard pencil or very slim pens so they won't be much use to me.
