I started taking L-carnitine to improve my athletic performance. I was doing high intensity interval training 5 times a week and wanted a natural supplement that would help me in increasing energy. I’m not a fan of prework out mixes because these are usually filled with too many chemicals, hence L-carnitine proved a great substitute. I would take it about 20 minutes before exercising to give my body time to absorb it and I could see the benefits not only in my performance but also in how I didn’t feel burned out after my workout. The taste is very sour but I didn’t mind it. You can mix it with something else and it would mitigate its flavor. My only criticism is that the scoop is so small that it was hard to find it. I will continue using this amino acid for my athletic performance.

From what I understood from my research, this alcar (acetyl-l-carnitine) format has an advantage over l-carnitine because the acetyl makes the molecule accessible to the brain, adding benefits like improved mood and brain functions. Still, l- carnitine in general can be transformed into TMAO (bad! Increases risk of cardiovascular disease) in the gut and it's advised to take it with something like garlic extract to minimize the TMAO formation.Also, the powder has a really bad sour taste, like a spoiled lemonade or something. But I found out that mixing it with some other supplement with sour-ish flavor can easily mask the bad taste. I've been mixing it with a fruit-punch flavored electrolyte powder in cold water and barely feel any sourness. Powder format is cost effective but I'll probably buy it in capsules after I'm done with this container just for more convenience.Anyways, alcar benefits and effectiveness has been well studied and easy to notice how it helps you shed body fat away with some zone-two cardio exercise.

I think this is one of those supplements that if you need it, and take it, you will feel a difference pretty fast.
