Great controller, must for dads
Well I’ve gotten to the water temple in Ocarina of Time so I feel like I can write my review. This works great! I’ve noticed no delays between button presses. The battery life is good, and it’s never died on me so far. Comfortable and feels good in my hands. If you still fire up the ole 64, this is a must especially if you’re a dad with kids running around.

Awesome!
I ordered this and a retro brawler controller at the same time. I put both of them through about 15 minutes each of Waverace 64, Mario 64, Super Smash Bros 64, Goldeneye 64, Perfect Dark 64, and MarioKart 64, on an original N64 console. I really wanted to love the Retro Brawler, because it's color options are much cooler, but the Admiral absolutely destroyed it in every game and even made my fps games much easier to play. The Retro Brawler's thumbstick is atrocious, in my opinion. Way too sensitive. The Admiral had me destroying levels and enemies. Made Smash Bros rock so much better than an oem controller as well! Ordered a second one. The only thing I'd suggest to this company is more color options. The colors you have available are really boring, but your controller feel and calibration is spot on!

Impressive stick, questionable R, L, Z placement
The analog stick is impressively accurate to how an n64 stick should be in terms of sensitivity. The ergonomics is quite comfortable except the R L and Z buttons which seem a bit too cramped. The controller is worryingly light. Not too shabby but id say overpriced. If it was like $30 it'd sell like hotcakes.

as good as wireless N64 gets for now
This IS a good controller. It "just" works, feels fine in the hand, has a passable analog stick, and is not wildly expensive. The Bluetooth works great and backing up saves is a godsend. For people with pets who chew wires, toddlers who trip over wires, or larger gaming spaces where the ungainly extension cables are a non-starter, this really is the best N64 wireless controller option on the market. And for that I give it 4 stars.BUT. It's not perfect. These are my thoughts after a few months of regular use:I personally like the design better than the OEM, but if there are games out there that require using the analog stick and the D-pad in real time this controller will be impossible to use. Very probable negative here for some more obscure games. The dual trigger / Z layout is actually nice once you're used to it: you can pick which index finger is your trigger finger based on the game you're playing, which is great.HOWEVER, the trigger / Z buttons stick. I play a lot of MK64 and shooters, and this flaw is easily the worst part of this controller. It's like the Z buttons are slightly oversized, or convex when they should be concave in specific places, or the tolerances don't account for humidity or something, but both Z buttons stick frequently. I will probably mod my controller at some point and shave off some plastic on the Zs to hopefully fix this.No rumble on the controller. I don't personally care about this, and if that was the price we have to pay for SD card backups for our saves, then I will happily pay that any time.In summary, I am satisfied with this controller.Do I wish it were up to the build quality of the legendary 8bitdo bluetooth N64 controller? Yes, but that controller was never made capable of connecting to an actual N64. Maybe some enterprising programmer can hack the Admiral's receiver to pair with the 8bitdo controller and finally provide us with the perfect wireless solution (and make a fortune for doing it no doubt), but it may never happen (besides, those 8bitdo controllers are wildly expensive now). For these reasons, I give it 4 stars. I wish I could give this 5 stars, but the Z button issues alone make that impossible.

Great for emulators
I now have four of these for my Nvidia Shield. Set up the button mapping in retro Arch and have been running four players on Goldeneye and Mario Kart all the time. Feels like the original N64 controllers. The buttons are a little bit bigger and bulkier than modern controllers and require a little bit harder of a push, but that's what it was like mashing buttons on an original N64 controller

The first truly wireless N64 controller, but lacks the "premium" title that was listed.
When looking for a wireless N64 controller the pickings are slim and poor. Until the Hyperkin "Admiral" showed up. This design is based of the Japanese Hori N64 controller, and a little Sega Saturn 3D Analog Pad. Nothing wrong there, until you hold it.There is no real shape to this controller. The few videos online do show how "Flat" the controller is. The buttons are flat, the surface if flat and even the analog stick is flat. No curvature to design becomes more apparent when you hold it. If you play any modern console the shape should just sit in your hand. This just feels off.Weight, or lack of weight. This thing is light, featherweight to be exact. It comes across hollow, and it shows when you start pressing buttons and you feel like you can break this thing. There isn't creaking, but holding it to a Hori pad or original N64 controller you know the differenceButtons. Yes they too are flat, but they at least respond extremely well. The only real down side is how close the L/R buttons are to the Z buttons. You can easily click both, and there is no way around it. There is also a lack of buttons. This is a true N64 controller, and it worked great with my N64. Not so great with my Nvidia Shield or PC using Mupen. Using an emulator there aren't enough buttons for mapping extra functions like a menu.N64 receiver/ memory card adapter. It works. It loaded my memory card just fine. Too bad the memory card slot is on the unit so you can't use a rumble pack. That would have given the device the weight is was sorely missing.Battery. I played about 4 hours across three devices, and it worked great. It is listed at 6 hours, and I believe it.There are more wireless options on the way. Retro-Bit has a wireless Tribute64 coming soon. 8BitDo hasn't announced anything yet, but they have done almost all of the consoles so they are probably working on something. I feel Hyperkin jumped the gun a little calling this Premium. At the time of this writing I paid $39.99, but it doesn't feel like the price matched the quality. Wait for a price drop or the competition to arrive before purchasing this controller.

Excellent little controller with a lot of features
I've recently gotten into playing retro games again and after dusting my N64 off I decided I didn't want to ruin the sticks on the controllers I had and found that the 3rd party ones I had been using were no longer as comfortable as they were.Enter the Hyperkin Admiral, I have looked at this controller in the past and had decided against it at the time as I was happy with emulating on my PC and using an Xbox controller but lately I'd been jonesing for some action on the console itself. The controller weighs about the same as an original N64 controller so the switch from that to the admiral should be negligible in terms of weight but perhaps not in terms or size as it is a fair amount smaller than an original controller - its more akin to the Hori mini pad except a little bigger. The wireless dongle that plugs into your N64 supports 1st and 3rd party memory paks as well as the rumble paks (although its worth noting that this would cause your entire system to rumble and it is advised against even in the instruction manual) the only thing that isn't supported by the dongle is the transfer pak that pokemon stadium used but there is a workaround for that. The dongle also has the ability to transfer your saves from a memory pak to a microSD card (not included) and vice-versa which is handy given the games for an N64 are approaching 30 years old and it never hurts to make backups. The control stick is more the Gamecube style rather than an N64 joystick which is actually my preference as I much prefer that style of control stick but I would understand if it wasn't to everybody's tastes. The buttons all feel nice and responsive and are of a decent size without taking up too much space. This controller can also be used on a PC as it is bluetooth as well as the Nintendo Switch although an update may be required in order to use it on the Switch. A word of warning though is that the program the instruction manual points you to download was marked as a trojan by my antivirus and thus wasn't downloadable but thankfully my controller seemed to be pre-updated to work with the switch which is nice.I'm sure the file was a false-positive but I didn't feel safe disabling my antivirus/firewall for the sake of one program so be warned about that if you intend to use it with the switch and need to update. All in all from the day or two I've had this controller so far I can say I am very impressed with it and would recommend getting it if you're looking to start playing through your oldies again but want a more modern controller layout.
