Not sure why it comes in different types but I bought the original and they worked great . We refinished hard wood floors and used them between coats of urethane and they held up well

Q: Is this good for cleaning drywall dust off painted walls?

Yes because I use it to clean painted furniture after sanding.

Q: These are very large, are you supposed to cut them into smaller pieces?

Yes, in our shop we cut them in half. Each half is unfolded to present a fresh face between coats of varnish or paint. We use them on only one mfg product and then dispose.
