Great book for those whose kids need to continue to practice mechanics. Also good on some usage practice and sentence correcting. One thing I am wondering, is it still relevant to practice how to look up words in a dictionary? A couple of the skills practiced have little relevance today. Do they still test on this? To me, spelling has less importance in a curriculum (some questions on that), but the book has other questions making sure student uses correct word that spellcheck will not find (to/too/two) or (threw/through) etc. I didn't mark down for that, but I'm wondering. Review: Great series! - I teach fifth grade and have purchased and used this book in addition to Daily Science, Daily Math, and Daily Geography. I love all of them for a number of reasons. It makes for great seat work at the beginning of a class period, it helps me identify gaps in learning and the kids enjoy the work. Overall, I find these books to be a valuable tool in my classroom.

Enhancing second language aquisition
My daughters, aged 7 and 10 use these books to help them in gaining English profeciency. Our first language is Arabic, but their second language at school is English and they can deal with levels 2 and 5 of these daily language reviews. I want them to be fluent in their native tongue and in English, and these books help in a practical, "daily", way. It just takes 5 minutes or so to do a daily exercise, we correct it, then we do what we have to do. It's not a chore, and I guess that by the time we finish a book, it will have made a difference in their sensitive grasp of the language. I also like the fact that the exercises deal with all aspects of the language such as grammar, vocabulary, punctuation and idioms. Good choice.

Useful teaching tool
I have used this book as a relief teacher and found it to be a useful teaching tool in the classroom. It allows me to guide students to understand the normal expectations of written language. This book encourages students to do a little bit of practice each day which has been shown to improve results. I also use the grade 3 on a daily basis as a home educator. I have noticed that my child looks forward to and enjoys our daily language discussions.

Great for teaching new concepts and reviewing old items
My daughter doesn’t hate this workbook which says a lot for me! Each daily review is only half of a page, so we usually do 1-2 pages per day during our homeschool year. Multiple concepts are covered over the course of the week. It has answers in the back, which is a plus. It seems like a lot of materials don’t include answers so that you have to buy a separate answer key, and I am happy that this is not the case with this book.

very helpful
I am a fifth teacher. I have trouble keeping all of my students busy in the morning while I am taking attendance and lunch orders. This daily review is just what I needed. Once my students and I have completed our work, we go over it together on the SmartBoard. We discuss why we made changes. It is a mini grammar lesson every day. By fifth grade they should have most of the skills. This is just a quick review, but they don't know it is an English lesson.

Awesome!
This series is great! I am a homeschool mom. I used this book to prepare for the Standardized test. It repeatedly covers what will be on the test, so my son breezed through the test and scored well above average. If there was something he was having problems with, we used another workbook just to cover that. Otherwise, I just explained to him what he needed to know (ie. in correct these sentences) and he picked it right up. This was basically all we used. No need to pages and pages of doing commas, or apostrophes. He just picked it up by doing the exercises. A must have!

The resource is great, however the resource was used and not a new edition. I was charged the same price as if it had been new and unused. The price on the book cover was $0.95. I paid $21.15. There was no shipping charge. US to Canada exchange rate is not 2000% plus. I'm confused and unhappy.

I expect I will like this book when it shows up, but it has been over a month since they shipped it. I have the books designed for the younger grades and it is useful to help kids catch up if they find editing difficult. I am not really a worksheet person, so the kids don't mind if I pull them out once in a while.
