FX RS Series UPLIGHT - Landscape Lighting- Bronze Metallic - NO LAMP

This unit replaces one that was about 10 years old. There were a few flaws in the original design, one of which seems to have been improved upon. The halogen bulbs, together with our Arizona heat, caused the lamp wiring insulation to deteriorate. In this particular unit, proximity to a drip outlet apparently caused the housing to degrade, specifically the threading that joined the fixture to the spike. The new lamp socket wiring seems sturdier, with extra shielding up near the socket where it would get hottest. I plan to use LED bulbs anyway, and hope that this solves the problem of deterioration of wiring. Drip port is now directed away from the unit, solving that problem. In other respects, the unit seems well made and was fairly easy to DIY. One feature that I missed. My original units have frosted glass in the head. This unit has clear glass. This makes the character of the light a bit different. Doesn't bother me but wanted to warn those considering this product.

I’ve recently learned what a great brand FX is and i have been adding these lights to my system. Extremely well made. Perhaps the best feature is the socket to plug the MR16 into is on a spring. This has been a complaint of mine for other manufacturers because i would buy bulbs with wider beam spreads but those bulbs sit too far down in the housings to allow a wide beam spread. The spring automatically pops that bulb right up to the lense with a very nice, snug fit. This is also great if you want to use a diffuser or hex baffle-it will not move or rattle around inside. This will be my go to light with any future uplighting needs. Also, while it’s aluminum, it also has zinc, which will stand up to the elements for a long time

We bought 8 of these and 6 worked perfectly. 2 arrived with broken fuses and light bulbs would not go in, despite many attempts.

Installed these when I purchased my house new 15 years ago and they've held up remarkably well. After this much time a few of them have needed to be replaced. The weakest link is that the bulb socket inside can wear out especially when I was using traditional halogen bulbs in the past that are replaced frequently. This shouldn't be much of an issue anymore when you use LED bulbs. All the fixtures from FX Lumaire are nearly bullet proof and I would highly recommend.
