Having those measurements allows you to build the perfect round that will work best in that rifle, for that type of bullet. If you switch bullet types and weights, you need to go through this process again to adjust that new type of bullet to your chamber. It sounds like a lot of work? The first time it may take you 10-15 minutes. But once you get the simple technique down and understand each of the steps, it becomes much quicker. I can get all the measurements in under 2 minutes, and that is working at a very leasurely pace and writing down the measurements as I work. It is very simple and the results are you can create a much more accurate round.
